I've got a usable set on ebay just now:

Not perfect, but not rotted out either.
The usual issue is a bad thermostat. On a motorway run the coolant simply doesnt get hot enough, and the guage never moves. When you slow down in town or get stuck in traffic you'll see the temperature rise up as theres less airflow.
Less common is a bad sensor.
If you have climate control you...
I use a stock S4 exhaust system, mid-box and rear, with a custom 3" downpipe and sports cat. Makes a nice noise, but isnt loud or droney, and that was plenty for my 280hp hybrid turbo.
Rear is a streight swap.
Front will require a 5 speed V6 gearbox mounting bracket as the V6 subframe has a different mount on the nearside. You'll also need V6 gearbox rubbers.
you need to check device manager, and see what COM port number the USB device has assigned itself. Sometimes it will get a number >4, and you have to go into advanced properties and move it back down.
Sticking to the same USB port on the laptop tends to stop the number changing.
If your not planning on doing anything fancy with the turbo, then just fit a new standard clutch. If the flywheel is knackered, replace it with a new standard DMF.
Theres not a great deal of point swapping to a single mass on a stock car and it has downsides.
Quattro exhaust is completely different to a FWD car.
The FWD exhuast loops up over the rear axle, and has its mid silencer on the drivers side.
The quattro exhaust goes under the subframe and has its mid silencer on the passenger side.
Even the backbox itself sits much further rearwards on a...
unlikely to have seat airbags in a '96,
however the airbag faults latch on and require diagnostics to clear them, so even if you'd fixed the fault with a new clock spring, it wont go away until you actually reset the system.
The tailgate DOESNT lock. Take it apart and look at the mechanism. There is no lock. The ECU simply ignores the touch pads when the car is locked.
There must be a fault within the central locking controller.
the brakes will just have air in them. The rear calipers especially are a pig to bleed. Sometimes driving around a bit then trying again will work. Other times you'll need to use a different method such as a vacuum bleeder.
The ABS activation is probably a cracked ring or a bad or incorrectly...
the tailgate on a facelift car doesnt have a lock.
It has an electric pop, and the locking pump simply ignores the pads when the car is locked.
The key barrel directly actuates the mechanism to open the latch.
What exactly do you mean by it not locking?
yeh i just did the two-keys method. Use VCDS to erase the old keys, then code the new ones with the two keys method:
Ignition on
Lock the car from outside using the new, unmatched key in the driver-side door lock. You may need to hold the key in the unlock position while you do the next step...
10w40's are usually semi-synthetic.
Stick with 5w40. Same thickness when hot, but fully synthetic and better protection when cold.
It sounds like it wants at the very least a pump pickup clean, or perhaps even a new oil pump.
Is it a facelift car with ESP?
That fault code is related to a brake pressure sensor which is either part of, or bolted to the ABS pump. If its part of the pump, it'll need a pump replacement to cure it. It can sometimes be caused by a broken brake light switch as well.
Ring issues usually...
