Thanks Aragorn.
Think I've found the culprit, the N75 valve, the grey-topped 1H0906627A turbo boost pressure control valve.
After a lot of reading around found reference to the black-topped N18 valve (1H0906627, part of the EGR system which I've got blanked off on my car) up on the bulkhead...
Cheers, I changed the CTS a few years ago when the dash gauge began giving odd readings.
The gauge reads 90 at all times though, so surely the sensor must be OK?
Thanks for the replies....I didn't really think it was the accelerator, just a stab in the dark!
The problem first began about a month ago on my daily drive to work......accelerating fairly heavily out of a 50mph average speed zone the car would 'hiccup' a few times, definitely not normal...
Hi,
My trusty AFN TDi has now clocked up 286k miles but has begun to run roughly over the last few weeks.
It's hard to describe, but it seems to manifest itself as a jerkiness in acceleration, almost as if something is holding the car back, which comes and goes very rapidly.
The speed with which...
Update;
I took the old pump back into the dealers last week and they instantly agreed that there was no way it should have been making that noise and could see themselves how noisy it was when turning it by hand.
Anyway, a few days later I had a call saying that I would get a full refund ,which...
Well I did the job on Saturday using a supposedly OEM pump from GSF that has a plastic impeller, just like the Genuine (Made in Canada) one that I removed.
It all went extremely easily and for the benefit of other TDi owners who may read this can easily be done without putting the lock carrier...
Thanks Aragorn.
100% convinced it's nothing to do with belt, with belt disconnected yesterday and merely turning water pump pulley by hand it was noisy, even at that low rpm...not rough feeling by any means but definitely squeaky.
In the past I had tried to diagnose the problem by spraying the...
Hi,
My ever-trusty B5 has required a fair bit of attention over the last few months; it's now at 270k miles and I guess it's at the stage where parts are simply beginning to wear-out simply due to age.
Anyway about 2 months ago I began to hear a squeaking noise coming from the alternator area...
Thanks, will bleed it as soon as I get a day off.....
Definitely no change in pedal feel, its got me stumped.
The more I think the more I realise it must be a clutch disengagement issue for whatever reason.
Don't understand though how the release bearing can be seemingly noisy one day and OK...
Thanks for the tip!
The clutch pedal felt the same as it has always done, definitely no difference in resistance etc.
I replaced the NSR caliper /flexy hose last week as the old one was seized/sticking and only bled that part of the circuit using a 1 man bleeder kit.
When I went to top up...
Right,
Experiencing a few issues with my trusty A4 TDI and would appreciate your advice!
Car has 248k miles under its belt, at 192k miles it had a replacement s/h gearbox and new dual mass flywheel /clutch kit and release bearing, all Genuine Parts fitted.
Whilst parking the car up the other...
I've had my A4 for over 8 yrs now and have taken the car from 112k to 243k miles.
It's never broken down on me and apart from regular servicing and preventative maintenance the only times it has ever been undrivable have been 2 occasions in the last 6 months when (1) the indicator/hazard relay...
All sorted, on starting from scratch with a test-lamp found there was power at the 10A mini-fuse No 14, so pulled it again and on close examination in daylight could see that it had in fact blown.
Schoolboy error in not diagnosing it earlier but at least the fix was cheap!
Thanks, think the interior lights do run off a timer.
Haven't yet checked anything out other than the fuse as it was 8pm last night that the fault manifested itself and the fuse check was quick and easy to do.
I have come across references doing a net search to a relay 382 which is apparently...
Went to my car last night and on pressing the keyfob to unlock the car found that the indicators did not flash when unlocking it, then discovered that I had no interior lights or footwell lights or red marker lights on doors.
On further investigation I found the rear luggage compartment light...
The best way to find out the specs for any given year IMHO are to obtain the official dealer sales brochures and see what each model has above and beyond the basic spec........
For cars as old as the B5 they should be cheap enough on Ebay, thats what I did a few years ago anyway.
My PFL '99...
234k on my TDI AFN Avant.
Does 80 motorway miles per day and still returning 51-54 mpg.
Owned it for almost 8 years and still find myself thinking that it feels like a special place to be as I get in each morning.
One of my rear shocks was wet, it's that which spurred me on to replace all 4.
My car would lurch sideways whenever I hit a pothole and I was convinced I had multiple issues....
On taking the suspension apart it was apparent that despite the shocks passing the bounce test to MOT standards they...
I'd change the rear shocks first tbh....
I did rear axle bushes and shocks last summer and found that despite having well over 200k under its belt my car had virtually unworn rear bushes.
Expecting them to be falling apart I was most surprised to find that they took a lot of effort to remove...
