Mine are standard and only problem is they squeal when it's damp outside.
Not really bothered by the brakes but I rarely drive so I have to slam on them at the last moment. I do drive fast but brake with enough space. For me the standard ones are fine. Not sure if there's any way of stopping...
Go to a reputable place if you get it wrapped. I've heard some places cut through the original paintwork when trimming around the windows and doors. You wouldn't know until you've peeled the wrap off
Just an update.
The marks were related to the brake fluid and the garage took responsibility and offered to pay for all 4 wheels to be refurbed however offered to try and cut and polish them for me if I wanted but was totally my choice.
I asked them to try cut and polish which they did and the...
Just bought some cleaner - take on board that the brake fluid / rain may have reacted with dust and baked it on. The cleaner lightened some of the marks but not got rid of it all completely. It's a bit difficult for me to clean as live in a flat but will travel to my parents next weekend and...
It's only really on front two. The rears have it slightly but not noticeable. Will go to the garage and see what they say - if they don't do anything then off to the sprayer! Oh well. Thanks guys.
In the pics you can just see it's only affecting 4 spokes. On the far left there are spots which I assume were 'drips'.
If it were brake dust I would expect that on all of the spokes.
Thanks for the comments guys. In terms of who did the refurb, I won't name them in case it was not them but they were cheap at £30 a corner.
Will go back there but if the garage spilled fluid onto the wheels, would it not be their fault? Or is it common for brake fluid to go onto wheels and...
Thanks.
Originally I thought was brake dust but it's part of the wheel and, without scratching, it won't come off. Also only on one part of each wheel which leads me to believe something has spilled onto it.
If Brake Fluid damages alloys, i'll go back to the garage and show them what's...
Hi,
I had my wheels refurbed about a month ago and since then have had both an oil change and brake fluid change at different garages.
Washed my wheels this weekend and there is some sort of corrosion that has occurred, predominantly on the front wheels.
Pics aren't clear but it looked just...
Acceleration is still quick by the way. It feels like 170 bhp instead of 200bhp. But sometimes you want to make sure you beat the person next to you at the lights
I had the conversion done at 75k miles and now at 135k and it's been fine.
The acceleration is slower using LPG but I press the button which immediately switches it to petrol if I fancy some fun.
I think it depends on the type of system you get. If you pay less then the system will be less...
Thanks guys,
Will get the garage to fix it as best as they can.
I better not remove it - I have an LPG tank in the boot! Would rather that does not get unreasonably warm.
Hi Guys,
I have a 1999 A3 Quattro and the big heatshield that covers the backbox had corroded around one bolt so has fallen down on one side.
This is causing a rattle and I was looking to go to a garage this weekend for them to remove it. They mentioned that they may not be able to remove it...
Hi.
I have a 1999 A3 T Quattro and need to get new discs and pads. Is anyone aware whether the front brakes have a sensor or not? Keep finding conflicting info on net and ECP list both for my car.
I know easiest way is to take wheels off but won't get chance till weekend and want them...
Hi
My drivers side wheel bearings are damaged as I have an oscillating noise when going round corners or going above 40mph.
I had a speed sensor changed last week (trying to find cause of ABS issue). Could the garage have damaged the bearings whilst changing the sensor? Or could this be a...
