I thought I'd close this thread out that I started in 2009 as after 14 years the A4 goes tomorrow. Only 57k miles and only a few issues :
Central locking died. All options sounded really expensive so have used the physical key for the last few years.
A few rear leds failed but an ebay light unit...
Have you activated the fog lights for cornering? On my fogs (replaced with white xenon filled bulbs) the benefit is marginal. Would the LEDs fogs make it better?
Lynallbel, do you have a B8 A4?
If you do then you may have noticed that firstly they don't have dip sticks and secondly to get and oil reading on the MMI you need to have warmed the engine and then let it stand for a couple of minutes.
I've got factory tints and they're dark enough for me.
Main reason for the post is to say that if you've got B&O then ensure the electrics are properly protected as I've seen posts in the US where the water used in applying the tint has fried their ICE :(
Years back I was out in my TT with friends in their TT. They ripped a sidewall (Hardnott Pass) and called out Audi Assist. They said they wouldn't come if he could change it himself. Also we was in the middle of nowhere and it was Sunday late afternoon and the space saver would only take us...
The B6 A4's had a similar windscreen issue. When my S4 needed it's screen replaced I told them I wanted OEM Pilkington. The called the insurer, warned me it would take 24 hours and then it was done.
I'd always go for OEM if poss.
Call the servicing dealers to validate, check the MOT certificate and the servicing paper work etc.
If it seems iffy then walk as there's loads of others out there.
I don't have to reset mine for auto to work.
Are you sure that you're just not thinking they're not working due to the initial activation speed?
i.e. if my cars covered in dew then I may have to manually wipe if it's heavy so that I can see for the first few meters. If it's light then I'll...
If I was spending that money then for the tiny increase then I'd be tempted to get the S4. If fact that's why I ruled it out. Since I do low mileage the fuel economy difference doesn't make much difference. Then I realised I don't need the performance of the S4 as it's mainly the wife's car...
Yes - you have to declare factory options so why not when you retrofit them.
You must believe that it improves the look (or you wouldn't do it) and hence it will now be more attractive to thieves i.e. higher risk and hence it could affect your premium.
Many people don't ... but then many...
I think the price is around £3.5k .... or at least it was when the 3G first came out.
It is a lot quicker and a lot smoother but it's not worth even £1k to do it.
That 2.3mph difference on 0-60mph and 0-100kmph can be crucial.
It all comes down to whether you need a gear change as that can add a chunk. That's largely why 0-60/100 is never really a true comparison of cars .... unless you only ever race to that exact speed :)
