    Bristol - new car detail

Found Nick at DMC a waste of time..... Promised me a booking repeatedly and then went back on the dates promised. Would take weeks to reply to emails also. Sure his work is great, but sounds like he is a victim of his own success. Too busy.

    Meguiar's Tyre Polish

Use it for 12-18 months and it will turn the rubber an off brown/black colour. I also find it to be messy stuff. It takes a long time to dry too as if driven a couple hours after application it can leave a lot of flecks up the doors and arches. Washing the sidewalls can help avoid the browning...

    Meguiar's Tyre Polish

Isn't this the stuff that gives tyres a brown tinge after a while? It's OK. There is better out there though

    Show Us Your Reflection Shots

Some nice reflections today. Loving this Angelwax Drift wax. Adds lovely definition on top of Angelwax Ti-22 sealant.

    Paint? Lacquer? Please help!

Do you know if the panel has been resprayed at some point? If it's been repaired and the lacquer was only a thin coat then it won't be very robust. Smart repair would sort it (make sure you go for someone who is recommended for their work).

Metro Vac Sidekick review (plus pics)

I'm very embarrassed to admit that Mrs Pulp bought me this for my birthday in March, but only today have I had the chance to use it for a full sealant / wax session on my (exclusive colour) Amalfi White S3. It's circa £75 to buy and is available from most good detailing websites. It says its...

    Flash Magic Eraser

Constant use might I guess wear away some of the goodness from the leather but the odd use once or twice a year should be OK. One thing they are excellent for is getting scuffs out of door cards

    Paint? Lacquer? Please help!

That is the clear coat lacquer coming off as you suspect. A stone chip in that area usually starts the flaking. Pressure / jet washing the panel will usually result in the lacquer lifting when the water gets under the lacquer. From my experience, paint panels that have been re sprayed and then...

What wax for your white cars??

+1. Collinite is one of the best brands of wax I have used.

    Aerospace 303

Yes a slight shine is normal if you applied a little too much. A spray on a microfibre ensures an even application in my experience. Another thing I have found it brilliant on is plastic wheel arch liners. It brings them back to new and also does quite well of repelling dirt, dust and grime.

    Slim's Detailing - An Introduction

Welcome to the forum :) I was going to order a few bits from you this afternoon but unfortunately you were missing some things from particular manufacturers ranges I needed (3M wheel brush and CarPro Trix). Otherwise, really like the site and the Slims rewards. I buy probably circa £100 a...

Detailed yesterday - dirty today :-(

Jet wash will get 90% of the grime off after a g-techniq treatment. Looks very nice.... I'd invest £50 and get your self some decent shampoo, wash mitt, drying towels, soft wheel brushes etc. no point investing in g-techniq if you then abuse the finish with £2 a car wash.

    New DA

Be interested to know you thoughts when you get it. I have the older DAS-6 and it doesn't take swirl out of the hard as rock clear coat on my 8V S3. I've heard good things about this. What pad / polish combo will you be using?

Wheel sealant - worth it ???

I've have been impressed with Dodo Red mist Tropical. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo-juice/dodo-juice-red-mist-tropical-250ml/prod_540.html Strictly speaking it is quick detailer with sealant properties. I don't do heavy miles and my wheels are washed as delicately as possible just...

Dealer clean or not to clean.

Maybe you should ask your dealer how they prepare new cars? It is different dealer to dealer it appears. For instance, my dealer uses a third party detailing company to prepare new vehicles. On collection day it was parked in the show room with the spotlights on it. There was a couple of very...

    Birthday present....

Hahaha - that's a funny pic! Thanks BH :arco: Mrs Pulp asked if it was a "hair dryer for the car?" I said it would be if the S3 had hair
