People who lie when selling cars!

Interesting thread - I've sold a couple of cars in the past privately and have been as honest as possible in describing the condition. I actually think this attracts interest, because there's less for potential buyers to worry about when they decide to come and see the car.

    this months EVO magazine

I've been subscribing to EVO for around six years now and it's easily the best car mag of all. Subscribers get a different cover each month from the shop versions with a single photo on it to tempt you in, instead of the crowded text and images to try and "leap off" the shelves. Brilliant...

    Painted lights craze!!!

It's not just body-coloured tailights that cause problems. I've seen dozens of aftermarket lenses fitted with just one bulb illuminated when there should be four, or a sidelight bulb used for a brake, or nothing working at all. This morning, I followed a Focus down the A1 and both his rear...

    Iggy Pop advert

Agreed - they insured my Prius for just £265. Miles cheaper than the competition, but still a crap ad anyway.

    Happy F***ing Christmas

That's something to be happy about. One of our directors was involved in a serious car accident last night, and although conscious, she's going to be in intensive care for a few weeks. Quite shocking, especially so close to Christmas. Regarding the work, don't panic - there are jobs out there...

    Car washes at supermarkets *rant*

Agreed - ever since I got into reading Clark's brilliant guides on the Polished Bliss website, I'll never have another sponge and chamois in the house again. Mitts and microfibre towels all the way!

    top gear 30th nov

Yep - if you want a car review, then check out What Car's excellent 3 minute videos on their website instead. Covers all the detail and most models are featured too. I do think however that the latest TG series has seen a slight cooling off of some of their more silly ideas. For example, the...

    top gear 30th nov

I think the whole Audi-**** thing is about seeing if the Top Gear brand can really influence popular culture. BMW drivers have had this reputation for years, and with Audi slowly stealing sales and growing their range, they're prime targets for criticism. Clarkson has nothing to lose. Still...

    M6 accident 21-10-08

Agree with the posts above - it was a sickening story to read with the loss of a whole family, particularly when children are involved. About three years ago, when the car I was in pulled up quickly into a queue for some roadworks on the M20 at night, a HGV tore past us along the hard...

    F***IN VISTA!

I got a new Dell XPS M1530 last week (fab machine) and it comes with Vista Home Premium. On delivery I had a similar problem getting connected to the web. I have a D-Link 802.n wireless router and although I could find the signal very clearly, I just couldn't connect - I didn't even get a...

    people on EBAY

Exactly the same thing happened to me - sold off a few genuine phones from my brother, a work colleague and myself and also got the Western Union treatment. Haven't used eBay for a while, but overall I've had a decent buying and selling experience. There's been one or two problems to sort out...

    Police, camera, action

The American versions are even worse, with dozens of replays of the chase to the fake sound of tyre screeching (even on grass and gravel!).

People who can't/refuse to use legible English and grammar.

Interesting thread. I'm all for better use of the English language and grammar wherever necessary, be it internet forums or spoken in the street. I take pride in it and hope and expect that others will, too. There is another important aspect to the good use of language however. When my...

Pulled for speeding and two other offences…

Consider as well that nabbing drivers for various offences nets a bit of cash for the government. Jeremy Clarkson once joked that speed cameras make less for the government per year than Simon Cowell pays in tax, but add on all those £60, 3-point endorsements plus the more serious offences...

Pulled for speeding and two other offences…

You should count yourself lucky you were pulled up, Maz, because at an accident at 50mph - whether in a 30mph zone or not - would mean you wouldn't be alive to make these posts.

driving like a spanner in a quick car!!

Spot on! Works wonders. As for the original post, I think a quick flash you're welded to the outside lane when everything inside is free is fine, but in a long line of cars it's largely pointless. However, it does depend on the circumstances. Years back a friend injured herself badly at home...

    Personal Plates

Not really a fan of PPs, but I agree with Bowfer - you would expect to see them on top-end cars. I sometimes see a Dodge Viper in our town with the plate V1 PER which is just perfect for the car. But they are a waste of money really.

MOT changes - what a fecking farce

I also wonder where the money for the MoT goes. A local garage used to do MoTs for a tenner, with a voucher printed in the local rag each week. And they were real MoTs too - they didn't pass everything. Took my Sportback there tonight for its first MoT and while it passed easily, it now costs...

are they taking the p!ss with petrol prices now or what!!!!

All absolutely right. I'm disappointed the fuel protests in 2000 weren't repeated. It brought the country to its knees and I'm certain that if they'd have continued, the government would have backed down eventually, if only to gain popularity.
