You very well might be right, but it has not happened since, does the light definitely come on? If it does then maybe I didn't go into limp mode as not one light showed up on the dashboard while I was driving or pulled over? :/

Thanks for the replies, should of said not one light at all came on, I'm actually thinking it was the cold and the engine was just put into Limp Mode as a precaution as it was not heated up yet...

I checked the timing belt cover and it says it was changed at 161K, I'm guessing its kms as I'm from Ireland and there's 230,000 kms on it now, and seen as 230,000 kms in miles isn't near 161 so it has to be. So the last change was 70,000 kms ago I'd say, when will it need changing again?

My service book hasn't been used in quite a while I don't think...

Where do mechanics write the service on them on this engine if they were to do so? Is it under the engine cover or somewhere else? I have a 2005 A3 2.0 TDI.

Yeah I've had people rev it and myself to 2-3000 revs but it doesn't sound like anything in your video though, the howl is there its just not loud enough for my liking... This is some crazy stuff here -
