Hey, yeah I did come to an outcome but it was bittersweet.
It was the clutch and DMF, the clutch was worn and the DMF chewed to ****. Replaced both, cost was a shade under £1200 at an Audi specialist in north london.
On the plus side it feels great!
Heh, no not at all. Maybe symptoms I didn't detect? Subtle ones?
The clutch has quite a high biting point, the dealership said months ago this was a sign of the clutch being on the way out but there were no other symptoms, plus loads of people on here have said a high biting point is typical of...
So apparently the clutch is burnt out and damaged the flywheel, on the plus side he's managed to heavily discount the work so it won't be as ruinous as he originally quoted. My hands are tied really so I'm going ahead with it, but he said he'd keep the old bits so he could go over them with me...
They said they'd have a better picture of what happened later today after opening everything up. Is it possible to diagnose a dead clutch without separating the box and the engine?
I got a quote, it was 200 cheaper but by the time I'd got the car moved I would have chewed into that saving and I'd rather it was done by a marque specialist
Good! Yeah it's toppy, London based specialist, still cheaper than the stealership. To be honest I could shop around but the car is immobile and would be a right hassle, plus I really need it for Goodwood this weekend.
1.8T 190 quattro
So the clutch pedal dropped to the floor on the weekend after absolutely no issues or signs with the car. I was hoping it would be a pedal/hydraulic issue, but specialists Russell Automotove Centre have said its the clutch. Shiiiiiiiit!
Two things could happen now, 1) it's...
Contintental ContiSportContact5s all round on mine (1.8T 190 Quattro), sticky, assured, inoffensive sound, only put 500 miles on so not sure about wear but I don't buy for economy, I buy for performance and safety
Replaced the sticky pads that hold the rear number plate on, went with 6mm ones so it sits nicely off the boot lid, a small touch but I like it.
Clay bar and waxed it, thought I'd done a bad job after I'd finished but realised the trees in our street give off a fine mist of sap constantly, so...
They being the Audi dealership, who I'm aware manage to find a load of new issues, which I guess it part of the service, I don't have to peruse them (yet). There's 83,000 on the clock and I didn't give them the history so it's fair enough for them to ask about fluids and belts and stuff.
Yeah...
I knew this was the case when you leave it with a dealer but slightly annoyingly they've come back and said the clutch is on it's last legs, the front control arm bushes are starting to split, and the bonnet release cable's stopped working! It was fine when I left it with them. Are they easy to...
