I have the new upper gasket that you can have if you want it (mp me your address). The sump is in two bit's, you have to take the first sump off to get at the bolts for the second one.

Tipex & a box of different size bolts and drill bits. Sorry can't remember what size it is to lock the injection pump (maybe 9mm ish) I made a bracket to lock the over head cams. Good luck

You only have ONE EGR (ENGINE GAS RECYCLE) which if disconected should have a suitable bolt in it! On the turbo that's your wastgate that is also operated by a vacuem pipe!It has nothing to do with the EGR.

It's normal that it runs like a pile of sh*te with the EGR conected! Egr valves should be banned!!!Did you change it your self? If so did you clean all the pipes,manifolds etc?? Maybe some craps come loose and is preventing it closeing again!! Easiest way to check if the egr is stuck open is...

Silicon spray (or wd 40) in the guide runners every now and again should sort it or at the worst water can get into the motor and rust one of the cogs up,strip, clean & grease and you can save your self 200 snakes for a new moter!

Problem is that when you start hitting a few tens of thousands of miles the EGR valve get's that caked up with crap (along with all the inlet manifolds) that it usualy sticks full open when warm and never closes properly anyway so disconecting will make no difference!

No I would'nt have thought so, mine had been chipped (180bhp) and bhp was never effected only for the better.

What about diesel,air filter?? Have you checked vacuem pipes on bulk head to turbo ect??? Sounds a bit like it could be the maf sensor to me, are you sure new ones good, is it conected properly? Some people swear by a special electrical grease for the maf conector.Have you tried...

From memory I think I used a correct size bolt to block the injection pump and welded up a bracket to hold both over head cam pulleys in situ.

Oil mist seperator is the engine breather filter just behind the oil filter! This is what blocks and creates a build up of block pressure which in turn makes car smoke and with time blow all it's oil seals!!! But you say you have already changed it?
