    Hold Assist / S Tronic

Sorry mate but I have exactly the same issue. I had my S3 back in the dealers in its first month only to be told its 'within tolerance'. I actually find that applying the handbrake, after hold assist kicks in, allows the car to move off more smoothly (although not smooth enough the majority...

    S3 S-tronic issues / advice

Not great. Hope they get their finger out and fix it soonest - and give you something half decent to run around in in the interim.

    New A3 Sportback- Audio Choice

I have B&O. Its good. But £750 good? Not too sure (don't think its as good as the B&O system I had in an A4). That said I've had no crackling issues or glitches. I can't comment on the *** having never heard it. Some say its similar to the BOSE in the 8P A3s. If that's the case go B&O as I...

Plunge Taken - S3 SB Ordered

Nope not just you I'm afraid. I have s-tronic and for a variety reasons wish I'd stuck with a manual. For those who have it and love it then fantastic, it's each to their own at the end of the day. What I would say is if you've never seriously considered it then perhaps you don't need it. Stick...

    S3 S-tronic issues / advice

Not good. Hope it's a quick fix. Mine still thumps when released the majority of the time - whether it's on hold assist or handbrake fully applied. It's not great, around town it's a total pain. Apparently it's within tolerance! It does occasionally release smoothly which makes it even more...

    S3 Daytona Grey

I went for Monsoon. Basically because at the time Daytona was exclusive only. Would've probably gone for Daytona - glad I was pushed into Monsoon by those kind people at Audi. Don't regret it, think it has slightly more variances than Daytona in certain lights. But I'm biased and those with...

    S3 Options Advice

Nope. I was exactly the same as you. Two manual 8Ps to an S tronic 8V. The performance swayed me a little but other reasons had a bigger infleunce - wanted something that gave me even more of a 'complete change of car' feel. Also do a lot more enforced town driving than I would like. Balanced...

    S3 Options Advice

The fact that, on paper, the S-tronic is quicker to accelerate in most circumstances. Don't doubt that it probably is. Wasn't the main reason I decided to try S-tronic but it certainly helped sway me a little. I've covered it before but after day to day use S-tronic just isn't for me. I'd...

    S3 Options Advice

Agree wholeheartedly with the above (glad I wasn't the only one that duped myself with the performance issue either!). The saving on a manual compared to S-Tronic can pay for a whole host of extras. B&O (or at least ***) is a must as is the comfort pack and interior light pack. As Silure Mark...

    Next RS3 - New Info

I don't think I've ever over stressed a car with a manual gearbox. Even when on or near the limit part of the attraction of a manual is trying to keep the car smooth, not stressed and matching the rev and gear changes. If that makes me a couple of tenths slower on the limit its a price I'm happy...

    Next RS3 - New Info

You guys must have a smoother S tronic set up than mine. In stop start traffic, when the handbrake engages either by auto or manually, the whump in the back when it releases is far from smooth. Not sure I don't prefer dipping the clutch occasionally and being smoother in a manual. That said, up...

    Next RS3 - New Info

Totally agree. Been driving manual gearboxes for 25 years (occasionally the odd auto too but not my cars). But I wanted to give DSG a shot for a variety of reasons - have to say its a regret but at least I can argue I've given it a shot. As Warren says it does make the car slightly more...

    At last!

Don't think you'll be disappointed with monsoon. I would have taken daytona had it been a viable (ie none exclusive option) at the time. Having seen daytona S-lines I'm glad I went with monsoon. Really suits the S3. Its not a colour that suits the larger Audi's IMO but looks great on my...

    Gutted - tyre blowout!!

Dunno whether its just me but I have never known tyres as bad as Continentals for picking up foreign bodies and punctures. I have had a nail through the rear offside already - had less than 500 on the clock. Had similar issues with an A4 and (wrongly) blamed it on 19" tyres - three punctures...

    S3 Stronic: Stutter from cold

Yeah, I've tried that too but sadly in my case its not much better.

    S3 Stronic: Stutter from cold

Mine stutters a wee bit in first. I'm kinda of getting used to it along with the excess pedal travel in first before it picks up any pace. This I can live with and dare say get used to. What is disappointing is the jerky nature when setting off when the handbrake or hill hold releases...

Feedback from those with S3s now

The saloon has to be a Q car. Definitely a Q car. Dips nicely under the radar IMO.

Feedback from those with S3s now

Couldn't agree more - without desperately trying to sound like my Dad thirty years ago. Driving in the late 80s / early 90s I was lucky enough to have access to a couple of 205 GTIs , Mk2 Golf GTIs. In reality they had no more power/performance than the average family saloon today (mid 8 seconds...

    Xenon versus LED Headlight option

Can't comment on the LEDs but I've found the Xenons on the 8V are a big advance from the 8P. The LEDs must be superb if they're better than the Xenons. I have no regrets sticking with Xenons though.

Feedback from those with S3s now

Taking the alleged RWD 'driver' selling point out of the equation and going to FWD might, just might, force BMW to actually design a 1 series you'd want to see sat on your drive!
