Hi all, contemplating getting rid of lots of clutter if not really needed!? With a view to getting a map done next year I'd like to make sure leaks and blockages are minimised. Is there any adverse effect to deleting these bits and bobs ? If I'm convinced it's worth it I'll follow the in depth...
Yeah got the lights for £50 and proceeded to dremel the metal bits off. Would prefer the outer bolt for the light aswell but guessing I'd need a facelift slam panel. Lights are pretty solid though. Next job is to get them aligned as I think there a little out of line, so long as there better...
Hi all as above I've fitted facelift headlights to my 8l, been a sparky I'm not paying for pre made looms, getting the lights sorted now but unsure how the 8p lights work, on the 8l the lamps nearest the grill are high beam and driving lamps out on the edges, is the 8p audi the other way round...
I use mine daily as a sparky always a boot full of tools and can get loads in if you drop the seats! Been a cheap car to maintain ( touching wood ) and still looks quite cool! Mines just a standard 98 agu in kornflower blue with tt wheels. It's surprising how many ppl you still catch eyeing her...
Hi all, back again :-)
I'm noticing fuel economy not that great nowadays and also a lot of popping and banging from exhaust between shifts and when decelerating. I do have a hole just before the back box, so usual exhaust sounds due to this. But not happy at the popping etc.
also noticing a...
Yeah all I had was a set of torx socket bits and managed to nip em as much as I can, I had a 50 torx which fitted reasonably well. will need sorting properly as you suggest.
Proper paranoid about that last awkward bolt near flywheel that doesn't feel like it wants to go any more! Hopefully...
Might of got it all done! I've definately got one bolt that won't go in as far as the others, it might nip up a bit more but didn't want to risk it. Been on a quick low rpm run and developed a slight leak from new sump plug. So hopefully just a quick nip and fingers crossed for the other sump...
Well gone a bit tits up this morning, got sump sealed up and nearly got it on then the last two bolts wouldn't go in, think I might have damaged a couple of the threads on the block slightly not much as I stopped when It didn't feel right.
Don't know what to do now! Doubt I could a tap in there...
I think there's a better way than ball ends, I've adapted the 8mm bar of my spark plug wrench to accommodate a 1/4 inch square drive 10mm 1/4 socket, gets a good grip and does the job. You often get them in screwdriver form with a 1/4 adaptor at the end. Cleaned and refitted oil pick up and temp...
Got one of them out, just the last one towards the front is v tight.
I've ended up using two bit holders and a 10mm skt bit. Is impact driver advisable on the stubborn one?
All nuts loosened baring the two dodgy ones near the flywheel :-(
Mine are also 10mm socket externally as the 5mm ball wasn't working. Wondering if some wobbly extension bars would of been better! Cars up on ramps so can't go anywhere now
Just got a free oil level sensor so gonna stick that on to fill the hole!
Might eventually wire a led somewhere on dash as a added warning ! Off to Leeds in a mo to get a set of socket allens
Cheers Shane, yeah ideally a proper sump would be best, this wynns isn't a flush but more of a engine treatment, love the stuff lol
Thing is I keep looking at the hole and three screw positions and picture a pieces of 3-4mm metal bolted on !
I've been using liquid metal for probably four months ! Lol, it's failing badly and don't want to spend any more on short fixes, my drives like an oil slick lol
I will be doing a proper oil change with a spot of wynns in a few months so if I could just find something to fabricate a blank for now...
Balls ! Only just checked the box with the sump in. Box reads engine sump w/o sensor, which I thought meant without like I asked for! So yes I have a hole I don't need.
Not good as it needs doing this weekend, gotta pick socket Allens up so might pop to scrappies n get a sensor or find a bit of...
