is your car a diesel? i have worked on a few diesel golfs with the same fault which turned out to be a fuse,i think from memory the fuse was marked as being for the cooling fan,no mention of the intake manifold flap but when fuse was replaced the v157 fault would clear.

No,if the light has been on but now gone off there should still be fault code stored.

The brake switch has two circuits inside it,so just because the brake lights work doesn't mean the switch is ok.Get a proper diagnostic check done.

I called TPS today,they do not sell the actuator separately for the pd endine,but the do sell it separately for the cr engine.There must be a difference in the actuator,even though it looks the same.

No it doesn't need to be audi,as for cleaning the egr with the battery connected shouldn't hurt as long as the ignition was switched off.get the code checked and go from there.

The bit with the big flap is the throttle flap the bit with the small flap and rod is the egr,if you have forced either one it may have damaged the internals,best thing to do is to get it on a scanner and see what fault codes are present.

Did you try to force the valve open inside to clean it? if you did you may well have damaged the motor worm drive.
