Could be something as simple as battery voltage no good from cold starting? Recommend you test the battery? Or even a poor earth somewhere on the body?
Normally behind the glovebox you have to remove the glovebox complete to get at it? If not there only other place it could be is under the drive side dash normally a trim in the way you have to remove
to test the glow plugs use a test light connect it to the positive side on battery and put on tip of glow plug and see if test light lights up if no then glow plugs faulty if yes then check wireing
put a voltmeter across the battery to see if its chargeing whilst the engine is running? and check voltage when cracking see what it dropes down to? if not i would say you've got problem poss alternator or wireing fault check connection and earth points on loom to alternator

under ur engine cover on the right hand side you will see the fuel pressure regulator sensor make sure that isn't broken as ive had a few of them that brake this could be the problem
only just read the extra bit sounds to me like the micro switch has gone in the boot lock? one way to test this is open ur tailgate and see if ur boot light lights up with it open? if it don't then you know the switch is at fault which is part of the boot latch so its all one unit and will...
sounds to me like the alarm siren has given up this is a common fault although somethink must be setting the alarm off so worth getting it scanned to see whats setting the alarm off
also an injector could be on its way down that would cause for a knocking noise would sound awful if it was that and that would defo cause for a lack of power
maybe somet may have broken in the head and now has become jammed? sounds to me like the engine is on its way out? you need to start stripping if it re-appears? i've had the chain that drives the oil pump before become slack and sounds like a metal slapping noise
