Having gone from a remapped 8P S3 and remapped bmw 335i to now a 3.0tdi heavy a4 cab (work forced the move) which is fully speccd.
I can categorically say power and weight will be top of my list when I swap cars. Which I feel is going to be very soon, even if it has been only 3 months. I think...
May I ask where you got the grill from?
I've recently picked up a B7 cab but the grill has sustained some damage and I can't seem to find one for what I'd call a reasonable price.
Stunning looking S3, love the colour and what a spec!
In terms of tuning, Awesome are good for supplying some of the hardware but for mapping it could be worth getting in touch with Rick @ Unicorn (site sponsor on here) as he will do a custom map opposed to an off the shelf one. Based in...
Sorry can't remember exact price, your better dropping Rick a line on here or emailing him. His site info is down the bottom.
Oh yes...it's certainly a slippery slope haha!!
Yeah DPF can be a nightmare as Audi like to charge £1K+ to replace it. They just need to be driven for a 20min (ish) period to burn off some of the carbon or the car will do a forced regen on it. I had a nightmare with mine despite travelling 120 miles a day.
In the end i got it removed and...
Welcome, they are solid cars depending on when in 2008 it was it may have the new CR engine as well which is a bit quieter and smoother. Only thing to consider is the DPF if you do a lot of short journeys, although they can be removed and mapped out.
Deffo get it remapped ...as your based in...
Yeah that engine is brilliant. My mates just had his remapped by Rick @ Unicorn now it's a monster. It did highlight the need for some form of LSD though... and that's where the slippery slope begins haha. Only thing which puts me off bmw's is the amount of depreciation in such a short space of...
BMW 335i M Sport. Drove one and and simply fell in love. After a bit of fun in that I think an A5 3.0tdi Quattro is on the cards while a house is purchased.
The 1.8T wasn't brought in until considerably later so it would be the 1.6 or 2.0 in the petrol.
Yeah diesel torque is addictive but at the same time so is petrol power/noise so it really is swings and roundabouts.
As I said just give them a test drive and you'll soon know which one you want :)
I went from a 1.2 Corsa to a 1.9 (8L) A3 which was a massive increase in power and torque compared to what i was used to. Then I went to a 170 8P A3 which was a pain in the a*** with the DPF despite doing 32k/year. Then finally went to the S3. Having a petrol is good, but in a heavy car like the...
Nice, that will make it go even better. Oh that's good protect it from the crap winter weather. Well I will keep an eye on your thread on A5OC next year :)
Keep up the good work, gives us all something to aim at.
Yeah I don't think I would want to sell as it truly is a one off special car. Sounds good, is the larger charger still in the pipeline? I hope one day I can do something like this - a proper project car. Maybe not to the same extent but damn it looks good!
Very nice! Just spent the last hour reading through the A5OC build thread.
Amazing car mate, hats off to you and the body shop for the work that has gone in to this! What's the next plans for it then haha...
Oh yeah I was wondering it it would move the boots further up the rpm range. I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how the car develops further :)
What a transformation - much better looking car now. Well done mate and fair play for doing it!
Sounds very nice too. Out of interest what have you done with the suspension so the car can handle the APR stage 3 performance?
Very interested to hear about the next steps on this...
It's a shame about the cams but all part of pushing new boundaries on the 2.0TFSI engine. Would a larger turbo and new tubular manifold change the driving characteristics of the car with boost coming in later or would it remain fairly...
