Thanks, what I thought. Fear of sounding dumb, are the ignition barrel and lock the same thing or does the lock sit in the barrel?

Many thanks. It seems to drive fine, no hesitation, flat spots, idle needle is always stable, regardless of temp. However, I might just be used to it, it might be running a bit rough and I can't tell the difference. That's a good idea, I might look at doing a test, thanks.

Davey, you hit the nail on the head, I'm chuckling to myself here, though I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not!! The driver side is fine, the passenger doesn't open from the inside or out. I haven't run a scan on it yet, I'd have to take it into a garage and don't have the equipment myself

I have a problem with my passenger door - it won't open. This used to be intermittent but now it won't open at all. Has any body had this problem before and can you advise please. I had the same thing on my old S3, but it only wouldn't open from the outside. If I had a sunroof, I use that!! Thanks

Yeah, they confirmed the car is standard and hasn't had any modifications, that the springs are too soft and they had put them in, I have it on paper too. Email to Audi I think!! Many thanks

Hi, mines got a 'tappet' like sound and engine just sounds little too rough. It has an occasional popping down the exhaust which I'm putting down to a misfire. Changed the coil pack and plugs, some suggestions been blocked injector, worn cam or cam followers, wiring loom or cross threaded spark...

Many thanks, I'm doubting it has been changed before. I was told the timing may be out because of the worn follower, throwing the valve out of synch. I had 'random misfire' and 'cylinder 4 misfire'. Maybe faulty/incorrectly fitted spark plug.
