Left my ECU cover off - now I think the rain has shorted it ll

I apologise for my initial post. My second however was fully justified and contained quite helpful and relevant advice. This was also deleted. Thank you. I shall continue to gleen information from this site but no longer post. Keep those DRL's and LED's burnin'.

    High mileage A4 DTM

I'd say, get hold of a genuine VCDS HEX/CAN cable and a laptop before you even look at one. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache and/or cash on negotiation if it does reveal anything.

Performance clutch and fly wheel installed, should it be slipping??

This clutch bedding in business sounds like BS to me. It either works or it doesn't. Taking it easy will do nothing but put you past any warranty window.

Urgent help needed... rear disks and abs sensor A4 B7 CAB

The ABS sensor is permanently affixed to the loom. As far as getting the pad carrier bolts off (torx if I remember correctly), you'll need an impact gun. Only way I managed it.

    am i to hot

The cat. does get damn hot. I've put a heat shield between it and my coolant temp. sensor as I believe the heat causes it's premature failure. You can check that your cat is working correctly with an infrared thermometer. It should be around 600C at the inlet and 700C at the outlet. Higher temp...

    E-Con Smell

Pull the glovebox off and you'll see a rubber plug on the side of the evaporator core. Direct a jet of water into that and catch the run-out from the floor vents with a towel. Best solution I've found to the smell. Lasts 3-4 years.

    Corrosion

The rust is caused by moisture trapped by dirt acting as a poultice against the metal. Scrubbing under the wheel arches evey now and again solves this problem. If it's started to go, paint some rust remedy on it.

3.0TDi air intake choked solid - despite full Audi history!

If only the old "pay peanuts, get monkeys" mantra still rang true. It's more like: "Pay truffles, get greedy pigs".

    2.0tfsi timing chain/tensioner replacment

Is the failure of the tensioner not a symptom of a blocked oil pump pickup? I'd always assumed the two were interrelated.

    Oil Change

1 Year or 10,000 miles. Whichever comes first. Perhaps we should set up a forum recycling scheme. I'll take everyone's "old" oil and get another 4,000 miles from it. LOL. The proper synthetic stuff ain't cheap like the old GTX. Spend the money on something that will have benefit, i.e. Brake...

    Broken glove box hinge

Not had issues with mine. Although I did have the foresight to spray the mechanism with lithium grease.

    Can you turn it off

Cut the wire running into the back of the pads and short them together/secure safely. Wearing the pads down cuts through an embedded wire which then triggers the warning. G.

    need help removing back seats

You can modify the new guides so they are easier to remove again. If you look at the bottom of the guides, add another slot (hack saw), to make three slots of the same size/distance from each other. This will allow it to pull-out much more easily in future. This won't affect the security of...

Engine belt changing things to do on a 2.0t?

There's a variable inlet adjuster on the chain driving the inlet cam from the exhaust cam at the back of the camshafts. I believe it gets noisy due to oil starvation if the oil pickup in the sump clogs up with sludge. I'd suggest dropping the sump cover to check it. Think the sealant is £20...

Engine belt changing things to do on a 2.0t?

I'd change the thermostat too. Changed my timing belt 1.5 years / 15,000 miles ago and it's now begun to fail (opening too early). Now have to try and save the coolant and refill with it after I do the job (too cheap to buy new fluid). G.

    need help removing back seats

The only way I know of is to stick a long screwdriver down the headrest guides and snap them out. You'll have to buy new ones to replace them.

Audi A4 (B7) S-Line TDI - Oil Pressure Warning, No Power, Turbo? on M25...!!

Having watched this post unfold (I am unaffected by this BTW), ask yourself the following questions: Would you buy a house without a survey? Would you buy a TV without reading reviews? Would you marry someone without first dating? Would you take a job with no interview? So then: Why would you...

    B7 Balance Failure

I don't understand how people are still being caught out by this extremely well known problem. If you own one of these engines, get a grip and get it fixed before it DESTROYS your engine and costs you significantly more. Stick it on a 0% credit card and pay it off at your own pace. If you...
