    MMI screen disaster

Thanks for all the advice guys. Think I’m going to get over my Christmas hangover and have a look at it this week. Bought some trim removal tools from Amazon, and think I’ll get some Meguires PlastX on it and see what it’s like after that. If not happy with it I’ll look for a replacement.

    MMI screen disaster

Cheers. Don’t think I can put up with it as it’s going to be a constant reminder of me being careless. If the restoration method doesn’t work or I decide to just replace it, where could I get a decent used one? Don’t fancy taking pot luck on eBay tbh

    MMI screen disaster

So I’m probably not the first one to have done this, but I unknowingly used the wrong product to clean the MMI screen on my newly acquired 2009 A4, and now half the anti-glare coating has gone, meaning in brighter light it’s difficult to see what’s on the screen through the big scratchy blotch...

    Airbag warning light on

So if there's a loose connection and I fix it tomorrow, the light will stay on until I clear it? If so, won't be able to tell if fixed (if it's not blatent to the eye) Or will it just stay on the fault memory?

Good shout. Will check them tomorrow in the light

    Wheels... Marmite?

Not feeling the lairy colours tbh mate. White would suit a black motor? Or a grey?

    Airbag warning light on

Started the car up as normal thursday morning and the red circular airbag warning light (which normally goes out on ignition), has remained on since. Anyone know why this happens, or most likely culprit, or how to turn it off? Have 98 1.8T with bags in steering and seats

    Stupid sump plug question

WD may not be the best, but it does say 'loosens rusted parts' on the can. Cheers for the offer mate. Need some better tools I think....

    Stupid sump plug question

Yeah, had the hammer and wooden mallet to it. Think a slightly rounded bolt and average socket set making things a ball ache. Will try the pump method and see what happens

    Stupid sump plug question

Have admitted defeat after 2 hours of swearing, sweating and WD40. Am going to change tactics and use a syphon pump instead before it costs me a new sump!

AEB 150 to BAM 225. Any issues?

Is there an easy way to tell if it's the turbo? Power delivery doesn't seem to have changed (still fairly non-eventful). Thanks for all your advice on my posts by the way mate, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to engineering

    Stupid sump plug question

Just a normal 17mm socket. It's not a great kit I don't think, bit of play in it and the bolt is ever so slightly rounded which isn't helping (last change was done by a garage ). It's still solid on there. The only thing like a bar I have to hand is a standard wheel bolt removal...

    Stupid sump plug question

Cheers, knew I was right but best to cover all possibilities. Maybe it's just my socket isn't man enough for it. Will have a hunt around for something else to try. Have tried 3 blasts of WD40 so far. Got to hate over tightened bolts....

    Stupid sump plug question

Ok, so I'm trying to do an oil change on the car. Got to getting the sump plug off, and it seriously won't budge. Now I'm pretty sure I'm right, but it's the same as any other bolt - anticlockwise to undo. It's definitely not the other way for some obscure reason? On this engine it's on...

AEB 150 to BAM 225. Any issues?

Yeah, have thought about a map. Thing is, my car's smoking a bit so am a bit apprehensive about pushing more power through it. Was just thinking about putting a more powerful engine in instead as I'm unsure on the health of mine. Will be reattempting an oil change today (if I can budge my...

AEB 150 to BAM 225. Any issues?

Ah, Ok. Wasn't aware of the engine differences. I'm new to turbo's as I've moved from N/A oldskool VW's (Mk2 Gti's) to an A4. I thought they were basically the same block, just in different stages of tune. Heard the 1.8T is good for 300bhp (with a lot of work), but I'd be happy with 200...

AEB 150 to BAM 225. Any issues?

Thinking of making my B5 a more entertaining drive and am considering a BAM code engine swap. Are there any issues I should be aware of, or is it just a straight block (and Ko4?) exchange?

    fogging up

Thoroughly cleaned the inside of all my windows today. The smearing has gone, but the fogging is still really bad, mainly windscreen and rear as someone else said. Only been this bad the past week, apart from being dangerous it's doing my head in!

    Engine temperature

Have a similar problem. My car almost always sits at 60 no matter how much I drive it. Sometimes gets to about 70, but rarely. Looks like a new thermostat needed then
