Personally I wouldn’t use Kwikfit. Get yourself a cheap multimeter. As mentioned, batteries on their way out will flag various issues given there are so many sensors. It will use AGM battery. Only way to really determine what’s going on is to scan car with VCDS. That will show up all logged...
Interesting. Noted yours is an auto, and possible DSG gearbox. I wonder if it’s inline coolant thermostat. Sometimes called second thermostat. Buried at back of engine.
Out of interest rum4mo what is the cost of genuine B8 engine mount kit for S4. Seems like a job and a half if you need to loosen subframe, and probably a 2-post lift job, and you have tracking cost on top of that.
Regards edit facility, most forums lock you out of the source post about an hour...
Any update to this?
You need to get the car scanned to see if there’s any fault codes logged. Blue smoke could indicate burnt oil, but I’ve read a few posts that the car could be trying a regen, but that’s normally only possible once the car is up to temperature. VCDS is key here, then you can...
Took my old B8 Allroad to work and it was very frosty, -4 degrees. On getting back to the car I decided to use air compressor on tyres and opened the rear door to access 12v supply and the door wouldn’t lock. The temptation is to be rough and try slamming it shut, but you risk damaging the lock...
Not sure if this is related but the TPI you’re referring could be TPI 2043523/20.
There’s a few threads on Volkswagen and Piston Heads.
New one to me to grease a belt though. You‘re paying, ask them to pass you a copy of the full documentation related to the TPI, this is what the service...
Think I might have answered my own question. Going to tackle second thermostat (in-line) first more details here from Dave Sterl. Interesting video.

Audi cut back on the door open warning red lights and replaced them with a reflector. You can get a wiring
loom daisy chain and LED lights for around £100 which is great upgrade.
They also cut back on headlight washers unless car has LED matrix, but car has washer flaps in the bonnet.
You want to change your dealer Jonny, that's atrocious. You're the customer. That's fine if Audi have the part in stock but a month later with no update is hardly amicable.
Speak to Jim at Aberdeen Audi, ask for him by name at Aberdeen Audi (01224 400500) quote your VIN and he will furnish you...
Vibration if you’ve ruled out tyres could be brakes or suspension. Car only 2016, i don’t know mileage but engine mounts would be worth investigation otherwise. Back to the brakes, if the caliper has seized brake sliders or swollen dust sleeve then you’re going to get excessive heat. Tell-tale...
Something doesn’t add up here. This is a 2020 car out of warranty back in March but FSH and Audi expect you to pay potentially over £5-6k in labour and parts to have this fixed, even allowing for a free transmission unit worth £11k.
This is my take on it. Get the offer of the goodwill...
That is insane. My car has a 2 year used warranty, but as long as it’s serviced and stamped, then it’s valid. I’ll buy the genuine parts myself and let my local trusted Indy do it at less than half the Audi rate.
Thanks for the update though.
A multimeter is your friend here. I have an boat and have dealt with more than enough wiring issues to last me a lifetime. Outboard manufacturers don’t used tinned cable, so oxidisation is real threat with seawater. The copper cable turns green, then eventually black and you lose signal.
On...
