I would be buying the set on a limited budget of say £500, a second hand set of 16" alloys seem to be cheaper, 205/55/16 are a narrower tyre in my understanding would be better in winter (snow/ice) conditions and also they are generally 25-40% cheaper than the 225/45/17 equivalent.
