Hi, i Would scan for fault codes and as advised above by Kev and a few others- the main fuel pump aka Vp44 is the main culprit ! I suggest you get a code scan and post the definitions on the forum and I could advise you more however I would rebuild the pump and re-time and program ! I wish you...
Thumbs up ! That sounds like a plan ! There is a lot to gain from a bit of port matching but the real gain is removing the bumps/swirl ports around the intake valves...
Glad to hear you've sorted the low power issue... I cannot fault it from the video, it pulls nicely... personally I think it's an injector clattering or could be a dry tappet/hydro lifter...I wish I knew you wanted an engine, thrown a working AYM 155 Bhp at the local scrap yard, you could have...
In his defense, there is a toothed belt driving the high pressure fuel pump and it's at the front of the engine. The timing chains are a whole different issue !
Hi Tony, I am away on holiday for a few weeks, due back in U.K. At the end of the month... if it can wait till then then by all means... regards,
Chris
Buy a quality oil sensor and do an oil change at the same time. If I were you I would take the sump off and check/replace if necessary the oil pump/balancer shaft hex drive ! Just to be on the safe side !
Yep, hybrid turbos are possible however the turbos are water cooled and quite tiny- there is not much that can fit inside the stock gtb1749vzk housings... some modified billet compressor wheels and a bit of know how will do wonders !
You can use some hybrid turbochargers based loosely on the rs6 blowers(get in touch with Adam at tditurbos) but I would use something more modern: borg warner EFR series...I am sure you can get them to fit if you relocate the turbos... failing that some Holset small/medium frame will probably...
Engine code is stamped on the block, look on driver side cylinder head where it meets the block at the front in the vee of the engine...it's quite difficult to see as the area rusts and it's stamped with dots... easy to see in this picture right above the thermostat...in that little square of...
I know exactly what are you're saying- I replace the injector hold down bolts and cylinder head bolts however I have rebuilt many an engine yet re-used the old bolts and the cars/engines ran many thousands of miles after ! I don't question the engineering behind it however the world still...
I would not believe half what Etka claims ! Half of them bolts are re-usable and I have done it many a times on cars that ran over 100k since doing work on them !
For what It's is worth a d3 3.0 tdi with a gtb2260vk hybrid, high pressure pump change and a good remap will do 400 Bhp without much bother ! If you have the money up to 450 Bhp is possible without opening the engine ! At the same time, a late 4.2 v8 tdi with hybrid turbos will do close to 500...
Not much unless you graft a c5 rs6 twin turbocharged engine and do a mild remap ! Then sky's the limit ! Up to 800 Bhp of insane turbo fun !!! It's been done by a Scandinavian chap and he swears it's such a nicely poised motor, lighter than a c5 rs6 and much more chuckable in the corners ! Find...
