    Higher springs for 2.8Q??

I fitted the Eibach Pro springs to my 2.8Q Avant last year but now find that it is too low for what I need ie it grounds out on speed humps when loaded up so I need to return it to original height, or maybe more? Anyone know if I can use the even higher non-sport springs with the red sport...

    1.8T broken down - Help!

Oh Ratz, apparently I shouldn't be getting that code, it's the pre '95 ecu's. That means I've either got a faulty new expensive sensor or something else, maybe wiring??? Thought this diagnosis software was meant to make things easier

    1.8T broken down - Help!

Just did another scan to be sure: 1 Fault Found: 16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal P0322 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent Same as before. Now I understand that it is normal for this code to show up as the engine isn't running. Tis unlikely that the new sensor is also faulty. So...

    1.8T broken down - Help!

had new ignition module and 1 coil last yr. Vag Com didn't show anything after the first breakdown apart from speed sensor, which I've changed. Could really do with getting it to my VAG Man, but don't think it will make it

    1.8T broken down - Help!

Just had to tow the Mrs home as the A3 had died for the 2nd time tonight. the first was half hour earlier on a busy roundabout so the Feds towed her to a layby, they left and it started. The RAC said they would be at least 75 mins so I followed her home instead, but 10 mins later it cut out...

Best way to dry a car out

A fan heater will be quicker as you need to warm the moisture in the carpets to release as a vapour & go out the window (you need to have the window open a bit). A dehumidifier will do the job but slower as there is not much heat energy these days to get the moisture out of the carpets.

    S4 Goodyear Excellence

I fitted the GY Excellence to the Mrs A3 1.8T last summer. First impression was how much quiter they were to the Kumho's they replaced, then on a damp sunday morning I did a trial emergency stop and again, was amazed that none of the wheels locked up or abs kicked in! Mind you, have been...

    Heated washer jets

Having heated mirrors all the time does seem a bit strange, but you only have to go back to a car without to realise how great they are! I had a new Mondingo hire car a while back and found it almost dangerous as the wing mirrors were next to useless with the amount of water droplets that...

    Hids...Making it easy

If you have the facelift lights with halogens then they are about as bright as my old 1973 mini! All you need is the H7 kit for the dipped beam, the main beam is fine albeit slightly yellow in comparrison. They are easy to install, just have to remove the light units, drill a hole and plug it...

Are Bilstein B6's worth the extra???

Already on the case, but it couldn't be done as the tie rod adjusters are siezed so collecting new ones tomorrow. I think you have answered my question guys, have read that they are "slightly firmer" and "alot firmer", and as I don't wont 'alot firmer' was a bit wairy. But I reckon the...

Are Bilstein B6's worth the extra???

I have a 2.8Q Avant '99 on 120k miles. Just had all the suspension linkages renewed and was amazed at the improvement in handling so am now looking to change the dampers & springs as they are still the originals. As this is not a 'sports car' I'm not looking for track type handling but I do...

    Dash temperature gauge issue.

If you have replaced the sender then it may be a faulty guage. Most people will suck air through thier teeth on that one as it is unusual, but not impossible. I had a never ending problem on my first Corrado, changed everything, guage was last and t'daaa. Now you can either keep trying things...

    1.8T Running Lumpy

Was just about to call the Stealers first thing this morning to order the part, but thought I'd give GSF a go first. Was very surprised to hear the guy say they had one in stock for £55 +vat. So took the afternoon off work to sort it out. Was doubled surprised at the GSF counter when they...

    Dash temperature gauge issue.

Don't think you have to be VAG trained for this one! As a comparison, I had to drive apprx 5 miles this morning before the needle started moving. Change you sensor dude.

    1.8T Running Lumpy

Just completed the test procedure on the ignition amp and sure enough I get an open circuit on one of the pins, not the one I expected but still pretty sure this is the cause. Many thanks for your help Ash/Welly.

    1.8T Running Lumpy

Think I found that link Welly Clicky Will have a go at this tonight on the kitchen table and if inconclusive will start pulling the injectors out tomorrow, in the rain!! If that fails then I will just tell her that its 'terminal' and she will have to buy one of those S3 things as I hear they...

    1.8T Running Lumpy

Just checked the resistance of the injectors and they are all the same. Stuck a LED into the plug and watched it happily flash away with the engine running. So unless it is physically blocked then this could be a Red Herring. Probably is the ignition amp but at £150 I really want to be sure!
