    New owner (some questions)

This is about the size of it. If you want to be extra careful for the first 1,000 miles, fair enough - I was with my BMW as I plan to keep it long-term. But really, the only really bad things you can do to a new engine are run it at the same revs for ages (think cruise control on the motorway)...

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Confirmed now that we're collecting our S3 on Friday evening. It's dragged on a little in the last few weeks, but it's actually been a fair bit quicker overall than first anticipated so can't complain really! Just checked and the order went in on 2nd Feb, so basically three months in total.

    Not acknowledging there's a problem

The equivalent app on my BMW works really well, so there's no excuse. That said, I could easily live without it - just useful really to check fuel levels and send destinations to the car in advance. The other functions are rarely useful.

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Our car has now arrived at the pre-delivery inspection centre, so will be with the dealer for collection some time next week. Edging closer - my wife is now officially impatient!

    Wrong car received...after 6 months

Not necessarily. I'm not an expert in this particular area of consumer rights -but where there is a breach of contract there's an onus on the provider of goods or services to make right on the contract or refund/cancel the contract. The appropriate outcome will obviously depend on the nature...

    Wrong car received...after 6 months

They still ought to be able to do it though. And without classing it as a 'mod'. It's what was ordered and they're in breach of contract. Unfortunately, they rely heavily on consumers not knowing their rights and fob people off with as little as they can get away with.

    Wrong car received...after 6 months

You can very easily see what the dealer ordered as it will be on your order form. All they do is send that to the factory - so it could well be factory error. Either way, the situation is the same in that you didn't get what you ordered. They have to find an appropriate way forward or you're...

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Excellent news. I'm expecting to hear similar early next week (may already be there but our bloke is off for a few days so he said we won't hear anything until next week anyway).

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Just had a call from the dealer. They reckon likely to be 10-14 days to collection, so a bit more optimistic.

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Sigh. We knew there were long queues at Emden, and it seems like they've powered through a few of those seeing as my car has come over 10 days after build while others waited 4-6 weeks there. I suppose that can only mean there are now a load of cars in Grimsby that they've got to sort through...

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Wow. When my dealer first talked me through the timelines, they did say that if your car is first onto the boat it can be last off, which can lead to a further delay this end. Fingers crossed your wait is almost over!

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

So 7-10 working days. Guess that's up to two weeks to get to the dealer then really. Going to assume we take ownership in the first week or two in May and anything sooner is a bonus.

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Just got the response to my Tweet too - now in Grimsby. Looks like they've made a big effort to get things moving as ours was only built a week or so ago. Let's see how long it takes to get it down to the dealers now!

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Pretty sure I know what they'll say, but I'll give it a go and see what comes back!

    A3/S3 delivery lead time?

So mine was built in Build Week 14, so presumably is in the same situation now. Not far off, but this is where the delays have been (thanks Brexit) so we'll see how long they're sat at the port!

95 vs. 98 RON Unleaded - How much difference does it make?

That's really interesting actually. I used to read the Honest John website a few years ago (it's more than dreadful now) and he was always adamant that Premium fuel would me more economical because it helps create more torque in low rev ranges.

New order - help me make a classy (under)statement - Exclusive colour content

Aside from the aesthetics, diesel is problematic for anyone not doing regular long journeys now. DPF will clog up for sure if you do a lot of shorter trips, so limiting any car to diesel only is poor.

    Wireless Charging Upgrade

Given that this pad is no bigger than a phone, I'd assume it would work. Personally, I'd rather just plug my phone in - better audio quality and won't overheat the phone but I know some people find these useful.

    Gap insurance?

To a point, but £1.50 per week for nothing isn't a no brainer, it's just a waste of £1.50 a week. If your motor insurance includes new car cover in the first year or two, you don't need GAP in the first year or two. Simple. But yes, if you need GAP, get 'replacement vehicle' or 'return to...

    Digital dashboard views

Before Brexit - no time at all. Currently looking at four or five weeks though I believe. Bad weather hasn't helped either apparently. I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) - car is now built and it's all about when it can be shipped. Dealer is 'hopeful' of end of April, but it's currently...
