Yeah VCDS is great - I did have a version but got rid of it ages ago. I just took the battery leads off and held them for 10 seconds then plugged in the battery again and it fired up! At least now I can get it to the garage to swap the ecu over - result :)
Yeah there was water in the ecu box up to the bottom of the relays - took them all out and dried, sprayed wd40 contact spray all over. Ecu itself didnt look to get wet, I do have another one to replace it as I had an intermittent fault before where all the drive lights lit up so it wouldnt fire...
Just found my ecu box flooded as the last muppet who worked on it left the lid off/lost it which flooded the ecu box in all the recent rain but also let water into the cabin so I had 4" of water in driver side rear footwell and 3" in driver front footwell!!
Ive dried out the ecu box and took...
Just to confirm - I have a 2005 3.0 tdi and I had the left hand one missing (standing in front of grille) that goes over the ecu cover. Part number is 8E1819447A 01C - see attached. These are different on the 3.0 diesels and parts depts will have trouble looking them up. It def helps to stop...
On my b7 3.0 tdi the battery is to the right and brake fluid reservoir to the left - so different to many of your setups? Need to make sure I order the right parts. Just drained 3" of wtare out of battery well!
Yep - just had that one. Been having intermittent starting issues with all drive lights on (not flashing. ) Turns out some muppet had cut the side off the ecu cover off so dirt and leaves and water had got in to the ecu box (new cover on). Then I spotted 3" of water by the battery so had to tug...
Turns out my car has been messed around with. Had a specialist come round today to check things over and he showed me that the ECU wiring has been poked and prodded with testers through the wiring, water, damp, leaves etc in the ecu box as some muppet had cut chunks out of the lid and you can...
I reckon possible causes could include:
bad earth between ECU and body
bad cable/wiring or earth elsewhere
faulty ECU
faulty TCM
I did change the PCB under the gear selector in case that was faulty as it was an easy swap - made no difference.
Ive had this intermittent problem for a few months but now its packed up completely. Not seen this exact issue when googling, when it did fire up it ran perfectly, gear change fine, no limp modes etc.
It will crank over but when the ignition is on all the drive lights are on permanently as if...
both my key fobs stopped working - tried all the suggestions to re sync after replacing fob battery. If its the reader coil then would that stop the remote control locking working? Engine turns over fine but I think immobiliser is stopping it firing.
Ive tried all the above and still cant get the key fob to lock/unlock on the remote control. Ive put a new battery in the remote and bent the tabs.
I tried the 2 key method as I have both keys still. Nothing. The car wont start as I reckon the immobiliser is still on - so the engine just spins...
Ive ordered one of these after doing a bit of research... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-Car-Handsfree-Adapter-AUDI-A2-A3-8L-A4-B7-A6-A8-TT-8N-8-20pin-MA2219/383621260789?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Mine has the earlier s/w so thx for the tip for upgrading. I'm happy to fit it but appreciate the info on my old A6 57 plate it didn't show any bt stuff until I updated it all and then it connected to my phone. The handbook has some phone stuff scribbled on it so I assumed it had bt. Mind you...
Ive got the built in satnav but trying to get phone connected on bluetooth.
If I go into tel then hit setup it doesnt show me any phone settings. Just wondering if these units always have bluethooth or its a separate module I need to get? In my old A5 le mans it wouldnt connect until I updated...
Looks like a great resource so thought I would join instead of lurk!
Just got a 2005 A4 avant sline 3.0 tdi so looking for good tips and guides on how to modify and fix.
