    Window Switch Compatability B6/B7

For future information, I bought a B7 window switch and though the part numbers don't match, it works fine.

    Window Switch Compatability B6/B7

Will a B7 driver's side window switch fit the B6? Part numbers are different but they 'look' identical.

    Door Harness Pin Replacement

Sadly I've not yet resolved this issue yet as other things have taken precedence. I did though buy a selection of different sized connectors from ebay that look like they might do the job. The part numbers are 000979225E, 000979227E and 000979009E.

    Steering Heavy Turning Left Only

The other day while making room for a truck coming the other way I clipped a kerb with my N/S/F wheel . Not a very hard hit, no damage to the wheel or the tyre but harder than I felt comfortable with. Since then the steering has felt heavy when making left turns at low speed and pulls to the...

    Air Con compressor replacement 2004 A4 B6 1.9TDi (130)

I have a 2004 A4 PD130 AVF as well and the part number on mine is 8E0260805BA. I believe it is the same compressor as 8E0260805BJ but I haven't a clue as to why they have different last letters.

    Wipers stopped

If I remember correctly, the BCM is plug 'n' play, no coding required to make it work. It will though throw up an error code 01794 - Control Module - Incorrect Chassis (VIN) Number is what mine had. You can get the new BCM to learn your car's VIN by going into the 09 - Central Electronics...

    Wipers stopped

Initially I thought the problem was down to a failed wiper motor or a seized wiper mechanism. I bought both, fitted them and still nothing. I was getting the exact same fault code as you and it was the BCM (J519) that was the problem. Did you remove the module and open it up? It doesn't take...

    Wipers stopped

Check the Body Control Module up under the dash on the driver's side for water ingress. After the weather we've had recently that could be your problem. It was for me last year, water was getting in under the ECU housing and dripping into the BCM. First my wipers died then my lights started...

    G85 Steering angle sensor query

I can't advise regarding your ESP system kicking in but with regards to the slip ring, the 8E0 953 541 C model allows your steering wheel to work functions such as indicators, wipers, trip computer and cruise control. 8E0 953 541 E controls all those too as well as multi-function controls for...

    Door Harness Pin Replacement

OK, NHN was correct, the pins I needed were indeed 000979225E. Now I need the very small ones that connect to the thinnest wires. They measure 14mm in length.

    Door Harness Pin Replacement

I have some broken wires in the usual part of the door harnesses in the area between the door and the body of the car. Rather than patch in repairs with soldering or butt connectors I thought I might have a go at replacing the old wire with new and put a fresh crimp terminal on the end. I have a...

    Coolant sensor clip

First time I did it I found it was a huge faff, took me ages including dropping the clip never to be seen again. Luckily I had a spare. Second time I did it, it was much better. It took a bit of faffing again but I did it in a fraction of the time. I dropped a couple of the clips but this time...

    Wipers not working properly

It would be easier to just check what the part number of the one fitted to your car is. It's a five minute job to do. You will probably be able to see it just by removing the lower dash panel. If you have access to VCDS then that will tell what one you have without even having to dust off...

    Electrical Fault

Yes, that's the one, just under the column. And it's one of the few things in these cars that really is plug 'n' play, no coding required. Definitely worth buying one in case you need it but you'll need to buy one with the exact same part number as your current one. Another thing worth doing...
