I would like to upgrade my headunit to a bluetooth and possibly sat nav aftermarket one. Is there a simple way to keep the steering controls or has anyone had any success with this.
Also any recommendations for head units? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for that. I tried this last week and it's made no difference. Have had it in the garage who believe the DPF is partially blocked and due to this the turbo can't boost after 3000rpm when the engine is warm.
Looking at a costly DPF
Would the DPF dash light show if this was the case?
My car is almost in a sort of limp mode as it has no power after 3000 rpm.
I have had the vagcom diagnostics ran on it the other day and it was showing underboost.
I have changed the MAF and EGR within the last 6 months so can almost surely rule these out.
The mechanic is suggesting a DPF...
My car is a 2.0 170 tdi it is pulling as normal until it hits 3000 rpm where it then just loses almost all power, foot flat to the floor and I can barely make it hit 4000 rpm.
It started doing this during a long drive at the beginning of the week following a long weekend in Yorkshire on the...
I get this regarding the bigger turbo but I've had bigger diesel turbos before which are much more responsive lower revs.
I'm not certain that the balancer shaft has or hasnt been done by the previous owner as it has been looked after but it's a risk I currently have to take and a bridge I hope...
Cheers guys.
Mines the BRD engine. I was just wanting to ensure I didn't have to do any mods to accommodate the remap.
Just to make for a better drive and fuel economy.
I've read and been that the flat spot low revs is typical for the 2.0tdi and is rectified with a map. (I'm used to the 1.9pd...
Can you describe how the car feels and what has led you to believe there is an issue.
If you can give more information someone might be able to help you out...
How is the steering, how is it on bumpy roads or when it is carrying a heavy load? Where do you think the problem is located?
I was only asking as I am not sure if the balancer shaft has been done on mine and I hadn't found any examples much over 100k so assumed I was in the clear as I know the previous owner looked after it.
However I am on 130k so let us know how you get on!
You're not alone, I love knowing where my old cars have ended up.
I've been chasing a mk2 golf for a couple of years now which has been sorn, waiting to see it emerge an absolute gem (hopefully)
We spend lots of hours looking after, modifying and spending money our "pride and joy" I get it...
I am looking at getting an economy map on my 170tdi as I will be covering lots of miles and also i've been advised it will eradicate the flat spot I have at low revs.
I just want to know first if there is anything else I will need to do for the remap, assuming the standard clutch can cope with...
Yeah very nice, I would agree, black wheels on the red car.
Did you have to use spacers to make sure there's no rubbing?
I am going to keep these in mind, Ill be after a set once i've tidied up some of the body work :icon thumright:.
Out of interest how much did it cost to have the DPF cleaned or is this something I can DIY? I have not looked into this yet but have recently changed the EGR as I had the same issues as mentioned above, flat spots, and intermittent limp mode with black smoke. The glow plug dash light did come...
Is that because you cant see through the dirt.... :icon thumright:
Im joking I have thought of this as I have removed the wiper arm due to it doing what it wants and it has not caused a problem. I am just on the fence with doing it, i've seen those glass blanks which do look smart and I suppose...
Hi
My rear window wiper motor on my 2.0tdi 170 avant has decided to do what it wants. I've been looking at various places to buy one and there's about 6 different part numbers for this. I want to make sure I get the right bit as it's £50+ does anyone know the correct part number or any tips of...
