Yes I think its false economy as the inner and outer joints are probably evenly worn, so the other probably won't be far off. I only had one inner joint go but I just replaced both sides and complete for piece of mind.

Might answer your question but I've noticed on quattro's (mine is FWD 2.0TFSI) the length on the left and right are different. So L is 594mm and R is 615mm in length. Other than this they seem identical.

I'm sure you won't regret going with the SKF ones. I'm happy with them. My specialist VAG indy told me to go for them as he fits them all day long and never had issues. Out of interest what's the Audi P/Ns that correlate to your car?

Finally got this sorted - it was indeed the O/S inner CV boot that was goosed. I ended up replacing the complete driveshafts for both sides for good measure (as figured the other joints would probably follow soon) and all is good as new :)
