Had this in auto mode and it was only ever 1st to 2nd and only when the car was warm, after being parked. Turned out it is a known issue and is covered under an Audi software update TPI revision 2054056/3. Had mine updated at the dealer at problem gone.

Judging by the shape of the headlight I would say yes it is a FL. Can’t answer the question on the headlights with any authority but mine is a FL and it has LED headlights which are standard on an Australian spec S3.
Installed a BMS turbo inlet pipe, 10 min job for much improved the throttle response at low revs, boost feels like it hits earlier as well. Very happy.
I would try a clay bar first, they take off all manner of contaminants including hardened tree sap. You may still need to use a polish but it can be less abrasive.
