Sorted it! There was a broken wire to the plug, completely corroded through, just underneath the rubber shroud on the back of the plug. That loom costs about 90 quid so I just soldered the wire back together. Now it can be mot'd - will probably fail on something else!

Hi all, just changed the front discs and pads and now this warning light has come on. Ive tried new pad wear sensors and checked the voltage at the plug where the sensor goes - this is only 7 volts - is this my problem?

The sender was faulty - testing showed an open circuit

All lights off now! Had to do a system function test after recoding the abs module and was about to follow the instructions on ross tech wiki, but the abs light went out after a few hundred metres and a right turn! So pleased. Thanks again to all those who replied. This has been a bit of a journey

Have looked on youtube. Now know how to get the login and soft codes. Now to try again!

Think Ive managed to recode the steering wheel module, but the abs module is still showing and error- Control module incorrectly coded. The software coding is currently 00000, but I cant change it without the login code, which I dont know. Help please

Well, one 430 ohm resistor later, the dtc is gone and so is the flashing glow plug light! Result

Just checked this on my car and there is an open circuit - got a dtc and flashing glowplug light. If I get a suitable resistor and pop it into the plug will that fool the ecu into thinking all is well?

Thanks but we found that vcds couldnt communicate with the steering module even with the battery fully charged.

Too right. Had a major battle getting the airbag module bolted back in - one of the little screws stripped the first couple of threads and would not engage.

Just put the new module on and fired her up. Now got a flashing red brake warning light and steady amber abs light! As well as the esp and flashing glowplug. Hope these disappear when we code the steering module.

Thanks for that. Have ordered an F type module without cruise. I suppose once I code everything and the body module (?) realises it doesnt have cruise it should be ok.

It does have the esp light on as well as the flashing glowplug light. We thought the steering module fault may be the cause of the esp light. I replaced the brake light switch in the hope of killing the glowplug light, but no joy.

When we used vagcom at first it gave 01826 sensor for steering angle sensor - supply voltage terminal 30-35. I then replaced the angle sensor and tried Vagcom again. This time it couldnt communicate with the steering control module.

Just checked and its got dis and on board computer. Last time i drove it it was telling me i was getting 200mpg so i think its ********!

The only DIS it has is the red pixel version, its a 53 reg car - I assume all model have that?
