Got round to it last night, after getting in car to drive it, noticed the door switches were defunct too. So took door panel off, unplugged the card loom and plugged back in and it all started working again, result.

Did my eibach springs by dropping bolts out of subframe completely with a jack under it, then lowered it just enough to get spring swapped, was a pig, used a crowbar to pry one side. I know my car was low on back before I changed them, had one broken spring so replaced that with a standard one...

Update, now noticed the red led for alarm not flashing, more poking about tonight then.

Fresh set of eyes after tea, swapped original lock back in, still not working, then checked wiring door to body, seemed fine, traced loom in door and found plug loose in bottom of winder, pushed it home and seems to cure it.

Oh, if I connect door card back up, or not actually, throw catch and lock door with remote, I can still open using outer handle, but not if I actually close door. Frustrating

Front blades are in the shed as ran out of lacquer spraying them, so wait until shops open properly. Its eibach springs, think super sports ones, very pleased with the height of it, had 2 rear ones broken on it before, but wasn't creaking and sat level so didn't notice immediately, oops...

Picked car up from the garage today, had tracking sorted after spring swap and couple bits done too at same time, looks a much better height now, will try and get a photo up. But between getting the keys and sitting in the a4, somehow we have now become the owners of a 1987 mk2 golf. I love my wife.

Found some bits I'd forgotten about in the shed, footwell lights and interior handle lighting bits from an a6, when get the car back from the garage I'll look at fitting.

I Was very lucky, I had cloth originally, then 2 tone grey set but dash and doors were still black, then mrs C found the a6 ones and we sold the grey ones quickly luckily for what I paid for them. Courier seems to be only way at moment, and quite easy to organise, but prices have risen also.

Any pointers as to suppliers of the rubber one, euro car parts lists one for the 2.5, that's the picture I posted earlier, everything seems to be the foam or poly bush. Cheers
