It can only be enabled when the cluster is new. I am sure something will pop up from China in the future especially if the guy above has done it with a plug in device.
If you can leave the color as is you are probably better off. Any paint thickness will just make the sensor less sensitive to objects in front of it. I had the dealer replace one of mine and you could not tell one color from the other.
Here is a video showing them flipping the brackets. I did it without any of the new pieces they installed. I just had to flip the brackets and shocks. Not sure what the Audi brackets look like but it may be worth trying to flip the shocks.
On my old VW golf you were able to remove the brackets and struts, flip them both 180 degrees and reinstall, to get the same affect. Did anybody try this?
I believe there is a post out there of somebody trying to do this. They ran into an issue with the start stop and dynamic buttons. The link you posted should solve this issue with the wireless communication but I would think that you would be the first one to try this add on...
I have a set of taillights and modules for sale if you have a sedan. But yes, if you have a facelift and want to be fully plug and play you will need additional modules and coding instructions. The modules make the power instead if running a wire from the battery.

The only concern is that you do not know what the app is changing. Suggest trying to find the proper coding and do it manually so you can always revert back. The faults are typically there if something gets changed which was not original or if the value change was not in conjunction with another...
