I went for EBC brakes Yellow stuff https://ebcbrakes.com/products/ebc-yellowstuff-fast-street-pads/
Had 2 sets since doing the conversion and they are perfectly fine no hassle.
ah well there you go seems a couple of people have had it. Though looking at the mileage on the first thread it seems north of 65k on average. But it's hard to tell the condition of car/parts, driving style, upkeep etc.
I always thought the main problem with the S4 B8 - 8.5 was the DSG gearbox...
So after waiting 3 weeks for a part to come in, this was the old broken one. It sat at the bottom of the oil filter housing and the rubber bit is what snapped off the circular bit to the right of it. It was hard to the touch not very rubbery anymore!!
And apparently there was a notice of this...
never heard anything about crank pulley being a weak point of the s4 b8-b8.5?!?
I had the same recall on the fuel rails in and out in a day.
To add I'm on 2015 s4 avant b8.5 with stage 2 MRC tune, the only thing that's gone wrong is oil filter valve/spring! tbf I really look after it and I'm...
Thanks @ninjag I spoke to my garage again and it's actually the oil bypass/drain valve that sits inside the oil filter housing (lower half)
So it's not the filter and seal that sits between top and bottom. The filter is brand new and the right part number, they are VAG registered so get all the...
@ninjag I'm not too sure I didn't even open the oil filter housing just went straight for the oil pressure sensor (which was a mistake given what a pain it is to get to haha).
But will report back when I find out what it is, I'll try get part number as they had to order it from Audi (which...
It was 5W 40, which is right spec but after taking it back to the garage that did the service and it turns out it's a part / o ring inside the oil filter housing!! (I can't quite see what it could be from the exploded view but guess it sits at the bottom somewhere)
So happy it was something so...
Just had a service, oil and filter replaced.
Day later I get a "low oil pressure" warning which went away about 5 seconds later. (I heard the beep but didn't actually see the fault). So day after that I drive it for 10 mins and the warning comes on and I see that it's "low oil pressure". I stop...
Pretty sure the callipers can fit on both disc size. I upgraded to the Macan's and they work with the stock s4 discs. I went a bit OTT though and did all this https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/s4-b8-b8-5-brake-cooling-diy.417838/
@Super Nintendo Chalmers I haven't bought them as of yet the current mod seems to be doing the trick but I will do in the future.
forgot to come back and report what I did to the brake dust guards, so here they are:
ps: I need to brake disc but need funds first :whip:
Did a full DSG oil/filter change.
Needed to remove the x brace to get to inside the pan and replace inner filter & magnets. Rather than just doing what audi do, which is replace outer filter and oil change.
Right here is what I managed to do, still a few finishing touches but it's 90% done.
Firstly took out all wheel lining to get some room,I grabbed the well vents to see where they might fit:
The main problem is the circumference of the well vent doesn't quite match the angle of the oem plastic...
I'm in the process of upgrading my brakes to Maccan calipers.
In the process thought why not have a go at doing some work on the cooling as it's clear the B8/B8.5 platform haven't really accommodated for this!
What I'll do is upgrade this post as I get things done. I know others have done it...
I've got the Porsche cooling parts on order but wondering if I should DIY the hole through the fender liner or sure I saw some TTRS swap somewhere.
Think I read about the rear being the same as RS4 but good to know for sure.
I'm now toying with going for the YSR 6 pots and slotted disc. They...
ah so with the Macan/Q5 you can go up in disc size?
I was going to keep my rear calliper oem s4 as I've heard they don't differ from Rs4? (could be wrong)
if I kept the same caliper on rear I assume I wouldn't be able to go up in disc size there?
I was set on getting the Porsche Macan 4pot caliper upgrade and red stuff pad and who knows what discs for my B8.5 S4 Avant.
But as I’m planning to go MRC stage 2 next month wondered if I should hold out and get bigger discs/calipers?
the reason for the uncertainty is I’m sure I’ve read...
Police drive by 18 seconds in on that video!! I don't see any hazards flashing indicating alarm is should be going off though? (
edit: maybe it wasn't set to zero second, didn't know default was 15!! oh some robbers still aren't that lazy with the angle grinder!!
