Hi again - back after a few months happy S4 ownership. There is however an intermittent noise at idle from the engine that doesn't sound right. I'm going to say it's something like a belt, pulley, turbo or flywheel. It is heard best through either wheelarch and sounds like a chirping noise over...
Happy to report that my local dealer fixed the issue this morning - under the subwoofer in the boot there was a connector to the active exhaust that wasn't connected - simple as that. Now it finally sounds like it should have, 78 days after delivery. Thanks to Rich, Frizzley and others on here...
Might be getting somewhere, having escalated to the CEO of the dealer group. They are suggesting that a software update will fix the issue, which I am hopeful of. In the meantime, I've attached images of the current settings.
Hi - there weren't any fault codes back on day 3 as per Audi Assist visit, so I'm leaning towards a setting in the 'service menu'.
My experience of Individual (on S4 and previous Q7) is that it remains in that setting after restarting.
Thanks again Rich and I can confirm that I have all of the visible parts you have - 2 on the bulkhead, 1 behind the left boot trim and the vent under the 48v system. I had previously checked fuse 5 and that was OK even though the fusebox and the diagram in the handbook didn't match.
Awaiting...
Hi Rich - are you 100% sure this is a speaker and not part of the 48v system e.g. a fan? It's just that I recall a few weeks back that I heard a fan running when the engine was off under the boot floor. (The latest is that my local dealer are suggesting that I should be getting internal sound only)
Just looked underneath and I have the speaker just like everybody else. Funnily enough it looks like a speaker! Quite how a main dealer and Audi Assist missed this I do not know. So I now think that it's a settings issue, especially as I found this on the AudiWorld forum. So it's a possibility...
Sounds like a huge amount of cost/time. We share "my" S4 and have found that we can get away with just adjusting the front-back setting (plus the interior mirror).
I retro fitted "memory seat functionality" this way for free: :)
Hi Rich - really useful, thanks, and surprise surprise I have that part in exactly the same place. So maybe I'm only missing the actuator (4HO 907 601 E, £140 and available) that's supposedly somewhere near the rear silencer.
Emailed the dealer principal on Wednesday - heard nothing back. Two...
I got the 2 part numbers I asked for, though I suspect there's also wiring / clips / brackets etc. It was more to prove the point that it's part of the spec and that the parts are available. Also gives me more ammunition up my sleeve - I'm ready for the "told you so" moment!
Well it's day 55 of ownership now and the problem is still not resolved. No response from dealer so I escalated to Audi UK Customer Service (they knew nothing of any contact from the dealer). Customer Services 72 hour SLA and after 68 hours I got an update saying it's been passed to "Brand"...
The manual doesn't seem to explain the coasting very well. Here are my conclusions so far:
1. Doesn't work in Sport mode
2. Stage 1 is "freewheeling" i.e. just says D - requires no throttle and probably a minimum mph. When you get too close to the car in front (info from front sensor), or go...
No response as yet from my dealer, despite sending the "video evidence" last Wednesday night and sending a reminder email yesterday (without the attachment just to make sure a 9MB file hadn't got stuck in a firewall). I won't chase again - if no response by end of this week I'll go straight to...
Update: tracked down an identical car at another Audi dealer today - sound actuator fitted - video evidence captured and chassis number forwarded to my supplying dealer to take it up with Audi UK. Therefore I'm 100% sure that mine is missing. Apparently, this is known as a 'misbuild'. Will post...
There are different types and I too generally hate anything fake. With the latest regulations, even the pops and bangs have all but gone.
The latest S4 sound actuator (if fitted!) is partially a physically moving part within the exhaust, presumably with the quiet setting to pass regulations...
I'm finding that it's not only how you drive it, but also what 'mood' the car is in i.e. how often it coasts / uses start-stop, which will be dependent on many factors. Last week I drove 15 miles on B roads, it coasted wherever it could and I got 49mpg and the engine won't have fully loosened up...
My company scheme is slightly unusual in that I'm effectively loaned the money to buy it myself and the monthly cost is a single deduction so I don't get to see the details. All I would say is that with a very good discount and good GFV, I'm getting a lot of car for the money.
I think the fuse is fitted, though the fusebox and the picture of it in the handbook are different! I can't reject the car as it's a company car, but I can dig my heels in and insist they get to the bottom of it. Makes me wonder what else is missing and also how it got missed at the PDI.
My S4 is back at the dealer and they've been told by Audi UK/Germany that the reason my "Engine Sound" on the Drive Select isn't working is that they no longer fit the sound actuator! I find that very hard to believe, as the Drive Select would have that option deleted if that was the case.
My...
Options by definition are individual preference. But, at just £195, the storage pack is great value. Likewise, in my opinion, only £300 for carbon inlays on a Black Edition effectively turns the interior into an RS4 and will probably help sell the car afterwards, just like choosing the right...
