How about one of these from Ali Express for about a fiver if all you you want is a temperature display. Cheap and cheerful but does the job and is fairly accurate plus you get the added benefit of a voltmeter!

Probably right DjAlix. I have an extended warranty with £100 excess. The service rep did originally say that an initial diagnosis check would be £90 before being aware their IT man had a software fix for it. I'm a regular customer so maybe a goodwill gesture.

I had this happen on my PFL A3 with MMI high. Took it into main dealers. They said they were aware of this happening on other models. It was a software glitch for which they had made up a "repair" SD card. They ran the card and the DAB was restored. No charge.

Audi Service (Cheshire Oaks) couldn't tell me what the update is for but it's booked in for next Tuesday to get it done. They did say it shouldn't affect any of the settings.

Thanks for all the advice DJAlix, I'll get the update done and see what happens. Its not very often Audi service offers something for free so best take full advantage of it!

I have a bog standard PFL SE 1.4 sportback with normal lights. Have just tried to enable the fog lamps as cornering lights using Carista but the system wont take it. Is my car too low spec to do this?

My A3 is in the dealers at the moment getting a new DSG gearbox fitted. It failed after only 11ooo miles. Just the luck of the draw I suppose! Having said that I would choose DSG every time. Its the 21st century so its auto everything for me - gearbox, wipers, lights etc. etc. But each to his own.

Hi Dr Eskimo, Thanks for the info. So it looks like oil changes on the variable servicing schedule for low mileage cars works out at roughly 12 monthly intervals anyway, same as fixed schedule.
