Standard Performance Brake Replacement Parts Experience

Merry Christmas :) Thanks for all the replies I hadn't noticed the alert. Thought it seemed a bit odd and opinions seen to agree. Yeah they had the coating on but to be honest I don't think it would have been that noticeable as they were just so iffy. I really do suspect it was down more to...

And to preempt the obvious - yes these where genuine parts from a very large UK retailer. Not ebay or otherwise jobs.

Standard Performance Brake Replacement Parts Experience

So really just a bit of what has been peoples experience. So I am not talking here about big brake kits or replacements from other models on the standard A4 B7 but fitting "performance" parts which are like for like. Be interested to know peoples views on if this is standard or not. So short...

What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Replaced the torn in two crank pulley on my BKN 3.0TDI today. Its going again so really pleased but f*** me that is a ****** job. Good mirror definitely needed and the better half did not appreciate me nicking the mirror from the bathroom to fulfill the role. Not helped by previous replacement...

Loss of power steering, battery light after a thud...

:( Cheers Paul, thats really helpful. Well I wish I had known that when it went in last month as they had it all off to do the intercooler replacement! lol. Sorry for the radio silence - been working on the other half but she is making it clear I am not allowed to buy the gearbox as its...

Loss of power steering, battery light after a thud...

Well you should never tempt fate but I was commenting to my friendly local mechanic how good the car has been after it went in for a major service and came out with a pretty good bill of health for 171,000 miles. Fast forward a month and thinking of getting some extra parts I am after to fix...

    3.0tdi ASB heater plugs

Yeah with my now forever broken plug as it gets colder it feels like it takes a bit longer to start. Often I think that is because I tend not to pay much attention to the glow plug light and just turn it straight over. I have to say there was really no difference between having 2 or 1 broken...

    3.0tdi ASB heater plugs

Can only concur wit desertstorm. I did my BKN, so basically the first generation ASB, at 125k miles. I had 2 broken plugs - decided to replace all 6. Most came out fine but one, which was totally fine, sheared. It was not a great experience TBH and I wouldn't do it again. I'd only do broke ones...

Re-trimming and modifying my interior parts.

The trim lights look really nice Rob (yeah my OEMs are a bit weak as well). Be interested to see the USB mod. I'd like to do something similar and not thought about the door as a location.

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

Dangerous path to start down cleaning.... Looking back now (18 months) cleaning it all was great fun but hard work. You get sucked in. I always intended to do a follow up diy post to Gurp's as I used his as a basis but just focused more on that cleaning. I have tips! heh. All I would say is as...

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

ASB* :) BTW just to clear up something that OliNix said - you didn't actually try to start the car did you? As I am sure it would run without that part as he says - but not a vac line. But re-reading what you put you sort of imply you didn't try to start it as it was missing? Anyway good...

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

Just as it has been slightly bugging me I had a look at mine tonight and also some old photos from when I did the air intake clean - so I can give a better picture of it but for the life of me I cannot find any of it on the parts DB despite trying. The whole bit just seems to be missing. Weird...

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

I agree TPS can probably help better. I think that is coolant from memory. I suspect it is 6. Second picture on post 6 on the post below you can see it come across from the coolant bottle - the T piece is right next to the purple and blue boxes...

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

The flaps would close under their weight tho, so it maybe that you need to connect it 90 degrees to where you took it off

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

I changed those. They are fiddly with the clips I seem to remember. Should fit tho - the kit included then but they only changed the design of the arms not that bit. Tight getting them on I do remember that.

I do have the workshop manual at home so could grab the pages from it later if it helps.

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

On from above bit hard to remember as I only have a single intercooler now so I can easily get to mine. I think you can - OliNix implied you could

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

I think.... As that is where my new one is and I am pretty sure the old one was in the same place. Bit hard as not at home today.

    3.0 TDI Engine Fault Codes

Had a look at the photos from when I did the pipes but I don't have an original photos From memory tho if you follow the air pipes from the throttle body downwards - you have a rubber tube which sort of twists 180 degrees, then the sensor is mounted in the next section of piping, before it...
