Sorry mistac, I've no idea when it happened. I guess it could have updated anytime during the assembly stage once it was assigned one, when the question was asked today was the first time I'd looked at that section in ages, was only looking for the 8V model code and lo and behold there was my VIN.

Knew I'd seen it somewhere in the back end of the yourAudi site (the full model code is below), when I went to find it I discovered yourAudi has now been updated with my VIN, so I've been able to add the car to the myAudi and Audi Connect apps, even though I've not got the car yet!

If it's any help to you (and everyone else who's just moved to "in preparation" status 20), mine was BW28, 11th July... moved to status 20 on 21st June. 2 weeks later on the Wednesday night/Thursday morning (7th July, the week before it's official build date) it moved on to stage 21 (panel shop)...
