S3 8V Clutch failure after 22k miles. If this has happened to you PLEASE READ

Sorry, i honestly thought i had replied to this thread, i think there was another thread (probably more than one), i might of replied to that one. the top and bottom of it was, I whinged to Audi UK, a lot, they assigned an incident manager to me, who's life i then made hell (it wasn't...

    Post Airbox Mod Dyno Run

The original clutch started slipping at 10K miles, with it eventually becoming unusable around 16K, at this point the car was 100% stock. Interestingly it only made 1 more NM of peak torque this time round, so i suspect because it was making more torque stock cause the original clutch to fail...

    Post Airbox Mod Dyno Run

I finally had the time to go back to the Dyno i used earlier this year, after performing the following mods on the airbox, please note the car has not been remapped. Modified the stock air intake, by cutting an additional section out of the OEM part. Removed the snow grate Turbo elbow Air...

Facelift S3 Delete Resonator YES or NO

I say yes, and permanently open the flaps, lots more pops and bangs, drones a bit on the motorway but putting it in comfort makes it a little quieter, but its trade off.

Starting to plan Car after S3

Very true, confidence, not a problem, actual skill, not so much so. I know my own limitations, used to have a 320d, and that was bad enough when it was wet / greasy, it's a shame but i have had to exclude powerful RWD cars from the list, i love them, but i just couldn't live with the paranoia...

Starting to plan Car after S3

It also rains a fair bit in the UK too. I love M cars, but one of the guys i work with has an M2, and he's always loosing the rear end when its raining, and sometimes when its not.

I believe the M3 is RWD only.

Starting to plan Car after S3

Just to bring this back on track, I'll be opting out of the company car scheme next year (the BIK tax on the S3 is excessive, to say the least) I am going to get a PCP deal on an RS3 saloon, which means for the amount a get in wages for a car allowance plus a little extra I can get a car that I...

Starting to plan Car after S3

I am in a similar boat, I went to my local Mercedes dealership after i found i couldn't spec up an A45 on the website anymore, there is a reason for this, you can't get them anymore, and they don't know when the new one is due. I don't want to get anything slower than the S3, but it also has to...

    Facelift S3 2017 - Clutch slipping

There is another thread about this, in fact this crops up quite regularly. If you want to trawl through the other threads there is a detailed explanation of how much i personally like my local Audi dealership, but for the sake of brevity i'll summarise; facelift manual s3 10k miles clutch...

What have you done to your 8V today?

We did a dyno day at BTG not so long ago, nice setup, nice guys, Its only 5 mins from where i work, I am going to go back to see what the differences are once i have done all the intake mods. we had a golf R with us that was making 35 BHP over stock, with just the intake mods.

    Pops n bangs map

One of my engineers has a mk7.5 Golf, he got the resonator taken out about a month after he had it delivered, and got it Revo stage 1 about 2 months after that, suffice to say I very much so enjoy being in his car. Its been 6 months now of constant popping and crackling, and the cat hasn't...

    Pops n bangs map

Speak to Unicorn motor developments, they do an impulse map, that will provide as many pops and bangs that any man (chavs or neds notwithstanding) could possibly desire. furthermore, if you have a facelift (not sure if it has the same effect on the pre facelift) , you can "delete" the resonator...

Facelift What does dynamic mode actually do?

More noise, Flaps are open on startup, then they close then they are open at >2800, but i personally think they must close again, as it gets muted at high RPMs (probably the turbo) throttle map is more aggressive, some of the noise is fake :( And the steering is heavier, plus the ACC is more...

    Facelift Skidding when hard cornering.

yeah pretty much, I know it doesn't need to be said, but you can push your luck without doing anything illegal, and the conti sports are not a good match for the S3. I wont be asking for them again.

    Facelift Skidding when hard cornering.

With the weather being inclement recently i have noticed some oddities, which i am going to put down to tyres, I have conti sports on and they are less than 6 months old, they are fine in the dry, but seem to get a little overwhelmed when the roads are greasy or it's raining. it was very greasy...

Facelift Results of Dyno Day for Stock 8v S3 Facelift

That's pretty good going, those EA888 engines in the VAG cars are a work or art, I am going to mod my airbox once i get my forge r600 silicone intake pipe. I am 90% sure i am going to get it remapped too. I never really noticed it until i heard my own car from the outside, but it makes some...

So pops and crackles for the PFL is apparently possible...

I disagree, its the height of good taste to have a heavily turbo'd engine pop and crackle, whats not tasteful is to have a massive exhaust on a small capacity N/A engine, such as a Corsa, or what seems to be very popular a 206 HDi (there are at least 4 of these constantly belching out thick...

Facelift Results of Dyno Day for Stock 8v S3 Facelift

That's good to know, which ever way you slice it any type of S3 can never be considered to be a slow car, what are you seeing from Golf R's is it similar power? or do VW play with the "wiggle room" more than Audi? I also noticed that the stock air intake on the S3 although identical to the golf...
