    Phone mount for a3

I also use the Brodit centre mount with a magnetic holder - very pleased with it.

    TDI-Tuning box

Very happy with the DTUK box on my 2.0TDI 150PS. Feels stronger under acceleration, while not seeming to have any negative effect on fuel economy (my tank to tank spreadsheet actually shows a modest rise in MPG since the box was fitted). Takes max. 5 mins to remove or install. Ran around for...

    DTUK 1.8 TFSI Quattro

Can't comment on petrol, but on my 2.0TDI it certainly isn't returning lower MPG with DTUK fitted. It might just be the engine naturally loosening up, but my economy is actually better since I had the box. (calculated tank to tank, not from trip computer)

Facelift Grinds my gears - Fuel cap

Have had the 8V for 56,000 miles before I realised this feature! Thanks!!

    Navigation Defective note on DIS

I think you would get that tab for compass as standard if Nav was enabled. I was hoping I could use the GPS receiver for something useful, even if I didn't have Sat Nav/maps!

    Navigation Defective note on DIS

I've got that in the DIS from where I was trying to enable compass using VCDS without having Nav. Mine's a '65 plate SportBack that is Nav ready, but not enabled (and no map SD card). I assumed that it needed dealer to activate navigation to utilise the GPS for DIS...

Facelift Gear change indicator 'N'. And other questions

Yes, this is how my 65 plate TDI tells me that stop/start is available. A white crossed through A is shown if stop/start in not available (due to one or more parameters not being met).

    Real average MPG

'65 plate 2.0 TDI 150 manual (with DTUK) has given me 56 mpg average over 18 months & 45k miles (calculated from brim to brim, not trip computer)

Not getting a lot of miles from a full tank

I used to have an '11 plate 8P TDI 2.0L 140bhp SB (FWD) and covered over 100,000 miles from new. Would regularly get 600 miles per tank (when moderately careful) throughout the whole time I had the car (mixed miles, possible motorway bias). Lifetime mpg over 55 (calculated from brim to brim...

How long does the 12v stay on?

Yes, very useful "trick" to make the 12V work like the 8P and be permanently on :-)

    Needle sweep intermittent

I activated needle sweep on my PFL non-S3 and it only does it once per full key in/out cycle, not just ignition

    Facelift Mobile Phone Holder

That does look good, I saw similar for the 8P but didn't see the clearmounts when I was looking for one for the 8V. Only downside is having the metal stuck to the handset afterwards. I was looking for a bumper/case for iPhone 5s/SE that had a built in metal plate, but haven't found anything...

    Facelift Mobile Phone Holder

I have this one with a magnetic holder: Great position and the mount from Brodit is a brilliant fit and very secure

    MMI cable and sim card

I think the SIM use for those subscription services is an eSIM where the 'e' is for embedded, so you cannot remove or replace; it is built in.

    8V VCDS Mods

Hmm, good point! Maybe the VCP et al show all channels regardless of whether they are supported by the module? Does the adaption show up in VCDS for cars that already have Auto Hold as standard?

    8V VCDS Mods

If I'm understanding a post on the ross-tech forum correctly (3rd from bottom on page 5), the adaption will show up in the list only if the EPB module has the correct firmware. http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?4786-Audi-A3-8V-Auto-hold-(ABS-module)-Anyone-figure-this-out-yet/page5 So...

    8V VCDS Mods

Just a thought, do you know if the adaption is present in previous versions of VCDS and it "dropped off" in newer versions, or if it's never been there? Seems strange that other products have the channel :-(

    8V VCDS Mods

That's a pain! I genuinely thought I had seen both adaptions in the list, but I just checked my car and I must've been mistaken :-( The security code works for me too, but only to set Hold Assist active. I guess we need the other adaption to make it "always on" to confirm if the module is...

    8V VCDS Mods

Did you activate the adaption and set the status to "always on"? There are two different adaptions that I saw for this... Which security code worked for you?

    8V VCDS Mods

Brilliant, I will try these out and report back. Fingers crossed the standard UK spec EPB module will have Auto Hold functionality :-)
