I didn't weld mine in the end it was beyond repair and I realize they are designed like that for a reason so just bought and fitted a new one. I also changed my brake switch as this was starting to play up.
Mine snapped yesterday, at a roundabout in the middle of town! Heard it crack once and then it snapped next time I tried to change gear....luckily I was less than a mile from my destination so I limped it home. It seems the little plate has snapped off and I'll just get it welded up and I'm back...
The crankshaft sensor replacement stopped it cutting out and the new maf stopped its rough idle. I also discovered my standard dv was broke but I have a forge 008 that I just fitted easily. It actually feels like it has full power now and hasn't cut out on me (touch wood)
Throttle body cleaned, turbo has also been off and cleaned and it's had no codes shown up on vagcom. Idles perfect now but it still cuts out.....engine speed sensor is next to be changed if it's not that then I'm going to burn the car.....(not really but you understand my frustratio)
Quick update,no codes showed up when it was scanned,throttle body has come off and is getting a thorough cleaning as it looked filthy. Narrowing it down now....
