Hi mate, Mines an X reg (2000) and has the isofix as brackets as standard using them to fit a Recaro Young Profi Plus baby seat. I must admit I thought they were standard in the S3 (I will probably be proved wrong though). I know you can fit retro fit Isofix brackets into a VW Passat so...

My S3 was doing something similar to what you have described (although not as bad) replaced the Air Flow Meter now runs like a dream (touch wood).

Hope it doesn't cost you too much mate. Will be getting my S3 checked as soon as.

My Xreg S3 used to do this... I had a new (standard) clutch fitted a couple of weeks ago I was expecting that when I got it back it would still crunch into 3rd but thankfully the problem has gone. I don't think it's down to the clutch I believe it's down to the gear box oil change they did...

Thanks for the comments. Andymac where could I purchase a gripper mat from ? As the Britax Cosy Tot baby seat doubles up as a baby carrier as well, was just going to buy the smallest fold away buggy possible. Saw one in the Mothercare catalog. Will sort this out over the next couple of months.
