In fact I did 30.4k km before rotating fronts to rear. (18900 miles)
By then (almost 19k miles) no apparent uneven wear.

They are not sensors, what happens is after you input the "correct" tyre pressure the system memorizes the rolling radius from the 4 corners and...
Not really, you don't have kids around for sure.
It's a safety feature that forces you to be present (there) when the heavy tailgate is...

That's the same as mine on the S4.
Just make sure they bleed the system before delivery back to you, mine was not bled and I had to top it up at home. Disgraceful.
