I have a been considering a remap on car for sometime now.
I am only really looking to take it up to 190 - same as the BEX code engine (both BEX and BFB share the same KO3s turbo charger)
Also I looking for a linear power curve, not interested at all in huge power/torque spikes.
I have exact the same engine/chassis (B7 1.8T sline).
Mine is 90k and had 3 more services than the model you're looking at (mine was on long life servicing). I'd say it wont be an issue, but the cautious side of me is thinking if you do buy the car get the sump dropped and oil pick...
I would again recommend 4 rings without a doubt. I am using them today for a job on my B7 and vouch for the quality of work (I am SE London too)..
Give Dean a call, he is very helpful - nothing to loose with a phone call
B7 brakes are pretty much spot on - had no issues at all with them (mine are standard btw). Even the the mrs commented when she first drove it how responsive the brakes were! I dont need to be that heavy on the pedal to bring the car to a standstill from speed.
Much better feel than my old 8L S3!
Must admit I agree with the majority here... at nearly 13k this is over priced unless you're getting a solid platinum warrenty with it!
I got my phantom black 06 s line avant 1 owner full audi history (90k miles) for £7.5k - I appreciate this is the 1.8t so the derv is worth more but not 5k...
For what its worth I agree with the concensus here get the work required quoted by an independant... I would heartily recommend Dean at 4 rings.
In the dealers defence though.. I use Dulwich Audi for my B7 and had good "honest" service with competitive prices, I usually deal with Sue in...
I have had a good look around and cannot see any sign of loose pipework at all which would indicate a boost leek, but I haven't actually pressure tested it for a conclusive result.
I will source a divertor valve at the weekend as they are pretty cheap and the current is probably on...
I have a 1.8T with what only can be described as a very slight hesitancy under load it only happens for a fraction of a second between 1 and 2k after that she pulls very well.
After searching the net and on here it appears it could be related to dying divertor valve (it looks like...
Must admit I really do like the Avant sport agree with your comment about it being one of the best looking estates on the road, also has the practical benefits for the new arrival in a few months.
I remember seeing your Hibiscous red S3.. lovely colour :-)
Unlike your old...
Just as a quick intro, I currently own a facelift 8L S3 and will need to sell my pride and joy in the coming months to buy a 5 door due my expanding family! (baby due in a few months)
Anyway I digress...
I have narrowed my search down to the B6 Avant 1.8T sport (quattro preferred...
I guess you mean the electric pump which sits near the top of the rad?
If so, its about £95 from the stealer... yes you did read correct £95.. had mine replaced under warrenty and couldnt believe the price!
Good luck with it
I am due to carry out an oil service on the car at the weekend and was wondering if anyone has used this oil....?
I usually use Castrol edge, but...
Temp neddle should normally stick at 90 no matter what the ambient temp (especially in the UK) or driving conditions are.
I would say that you stat is playing silly buggers or something wierd going on with the electrics... I hope this helps!
If the pump is weeping rather than leaking it shouldnt be a major problem, but I would get it sorted sooner rather than later.
But if you're having to top the coolant up everyday get it sorted ASAP, as one thing you dont want with these motors is for them to overheat.
I hope this helps...
I would prob be inclined to go to either the dealer or maybe GSF?
The latter part og this thread will give you an indication of the work involved.... http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=66514
One of the bolts is a pain to get to, but patients and persistance is the key here! :-)
I would personally think the HG is fine, the short journeys you do are a major contributer to the white gunge!
Also I would say the thermostat is shot too. The gauge should reach 90 and stay there. The oil is not getting up to normal operating temperature, thus causing the condensation in the...
