Found the RS4 rear ARB. It is 22mm. Couple of tiny bits of surface bubbling but other than that, brand new and never been fitted. Even came with fixings. Been sitting in my garage for 14 years!! Will Chuck it in the for sale section later.
3 hours quoted by a local garage for me @ £80 per hour plus VAT.
Can belt kit is apparently £180 and water pump £60, both plus VAT.
So was quoted £600 for it on my 2.0T
Which is the same as Audi offer on their fixed price servicing website.
I have an RS4 rear ARB in a garage somewhere. Haven’t seen it for years but it was one for the B7 with DRC fitted which might have been slightly bigger than normal, perhaps 24mm.
I’ll have a look next weekend.
Cleaning today. Only a 2 bucket wash with a bit of clay bar but then used Meguires Ceramic Wax.
It was very easy to use but did leave an almost greasy residue at the end. So spent a little more time with a soft cloth trying to polish it. Still a fair bit of residue which makes it dull in places...
I thought a proper intake clean used walnut shells to blast off the carbon build up? Thats what ive read on the S4 / RS4 / R8 V8 engines anyway.
Seems to clean them up a treat and there is def logic there that says it would increase airflow.
My car hasn’t been moving much recently. Short journeys to supermarket and that’s about it for a long time. It was serviced last year as per the book but I have not topped up the oil at all.
It flashed up on the dash ‘Reduce Oil Level’ when I started it. Thought this was odd. Wondered if a...
Having changed my car back to factory Symphony the radio that came with it is for sale if anyone needs it.
Came out of a Cabriolet but believe these fit all B7 models.
Double DIN With CD player. Wear on the volume knob otherwise perfect.
£40 plus postage. Or pick up Richmond SW London.
340! Very nice indeed! Quicker than the V8 S4 of that era and will handle much better due to lighter weight. Sounds like an excellent project. [emoji106]
As someone who had 2 8V S3s in a row, one pre FL, one FL, they are deceptively quick, way quicker than on paper.
It’s the gearshift that...
Ah, ok, cool. Thanks
I’ve plumbed in the new radio and it’s working well, sounds significantly better / louder
than the Concert that was in there. Not sure why it had been changed, possibly to get iPod connecting, but the Concert was def an eBay job.
Have lost the option of Fader but gather...
Changing my radio back to what it came from the factory with, a Symphony II with in dash changer.
But the wiring looks to have been moved about and there is a floating wire outside of the connection block. Also this car has Bose but doesn’t look like the connection is there in the wiring block...
Service done today. Oil, filter, brakes and fluids topped off. Given a clean bill of health and is running really sweetly.
Two jobs left for this year.
Toothed belt and water pump next month and fit correct radio as and when they find the one I ordered....
Oh and a ruddy good clean and wax!
Sat around all day waiting for an already delayed from Europe delivery of car bits only to get a message saying delivered and signed by me...
Saw the signature and it’s literally an X and none of my neighbours have signed for anything.
So someone has pinched my NOS Symphony II + for a B7 Cab...
I did think about the RS for a long time and totally agree with your 9/10th’s comment, but I came to the conclusion that I prefer the ride on the SQ, mine is on 20’s, and little things like the sliding into it rather than down into it coupled with the depreciation I have experienced and then the...
I’ve had mine over three years now and cannot fault it. It’s only done 19k miles with Covid meaning a massive 3k last year. Tyres still have 5mm and brakes are only 20% worn according to recent service.
I did have a bit of a wobble around the three year mark and thought of changing it but...
Belt changed and also booked for oil service next Thursday. Also investigated Audi fix price servicing which I will try for a gearbox oil change and toothed belt and water pump. Looks like you can now spread the cost across 4 months interest free, so, why not?!
And I drove it, roof down, wind...
My car has a phone cradle prep in the arm rest and the PR codes state it’s fitted with hands free.
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket solution for a modern iPhone or are these things just redundant these days?
It’s a bit of pain in the **** to do, but if you’re happy getting mucky hands and arms, losing some knuckle skin and dropping the belt off the pulleys, a lot, it’s relatively simple to do yourself. I did mine and I’m not that accomplished with a spanner (had to borrow an 18mm).
You don’t need...
