What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

Nothing yet but that's not the point. Thank you for your contributions to my thread but I am not spending any more money on it. It's going - it is a nail and I'm cutting my losses before things get even more expensive.

What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

OK but reading some other posts talking needle lift sensor problems and they talk about poor starting and rough idle and loss of power, none of which I seem to be experiencing. I better book it in to get it fixed, hopefully before Xmas.

What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

Taking your advice, I got the codes read. Nada, apart from an intermittent fault on the needle lift sensor. The mechanic said that it wasn't likely to be a cause of the problem - the biggies like coolant and MAF were OK. Also, no apparent leaks. Currently just squeezed 145 miles out of half a...

What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

Yes, it seems to be driving very well. The problem I have is getting time to get the faults read.

What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

No, everything seems OK, starts on the button, quiet (in fact quite muted since I got it back), even idle. I think it's buggered and frankly, I just can't be doing with wasting any more money on the damn thing.

You're quite right but cold weather won't suddenly clobber my mpg from 28 to 20.

What's Causing Excessive Fuel Consumption Following Repairs ?

It's just one damn thing after another. Last week, I got the cracked ATF cooler fixed - The rad was replaced, fluids replaced gearbox flushed etc etc. I put 4 new tyres on it and then filled up with diesel - to give it a treat I added some Miller's Diesel Ecomax. Now it's drinking...

soon to be new a4 owner, what mods can i do?????

Anything is possible at a price. In all honesty, unless you fancy the challenge, for the amount of money / pain fitting a turbo to a 2.0 FSI, you would be better trading it in for a 1.8T which is more modifiable.

ENIGINE MISS FIRE N CAR VIBRATING ON TICK OVER 2.5TDI V6 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this was a symptom on a BMW (the engines I know very well), the first place to check would be the Idle Air Control Valve - these get coked up and often need a clean out with a bit of carb cleaner.I assume the 2.5TDI has one so I'd suggest that.

    De-Badging ?

Mine's got the 2.5TDI & Quattro badges missing. Whether they were removed or the car was ordered debadged, I wouldn't know.Personally, I hate the missing badges - I think it looks odd and I don't mind people knowing my car drinks at the dirty pump and besides, when you start it up, no-one's...

Rear Wiper Blade - What's Fitted

In a previous thread, I asked for your help identifying what had been fitted to the rear of my A4 Avant. I can't find the thread but here is a picture of it hoping you can help - I suspect it's a 'mod' and from an A3 or later model.

    Part number help

I need to order a new bit for my Audi (on top of all the other expense I've just spent on it) but I don't know the part number. I'm after the 'catch' that holds the cover to the warning triangle 'cubby hole' that's in the tailgate on my A4 - the current one has broken. Can someone provide a...
