@Juan8v - out of curiosity, whats the situation in USA with gasoline having bioethanol in it? I ask as EU and UK are moving from 5% bioethanol to 10% in ‘regular’. The engines and fuel pipes/ pumps over here are designed to cope with it but super/premium is remaining 5% bioethanol.
In the US your ratings scale will be MON as opposed to RON, but they measure different things.
The 8V 1.8T EA888 Gen 3 engine doesn’t advance the timing, unlike the S3 so 87 MON (roughly equivalent to 95 RON regular) is fine. That said, I always used super unleaded 97-99 RON in my 1.8...
Needs multiple fingers:
Centre console: silver rocker switches - select & hold Nav & Radio (push towards dashboard) at the same time and press top of large jog wheel at the same time for a few seconds then release all.
Prefacelift is a different key combo.
Need a VCDS scan to get the real story. CAN 19 memory blocks 18-20 from memory.
Dealer check is only part way there.
Or stick a smart charger on it without a long run beforehand. If it goes from 50% to full in less than 6hrs or 4hr charge time in 2hr it’s goosed.
Charge in situ with -ve clamped to earthing point and +ve to the battery terminal so the car can monitor how much is going into the battery.
I lock the car and the cable is thin enough to come out between the headlight and bonnet without being crimped.
I use the CTEK optional extra wiring...
I suspect your battery is on its way out - recall you had one replaced under warranty when the car was about a year old? Did they put another Moll EFB in it?
Have you looked into what the car thinks the usable capacity and internal resistance are? It will adapt charging accordingly. When mine...
Good you have found the cause. Hope the garage sorts it.
Was it 2 litres of oil to get oil level to the top of the dipstick? If so I’d be concerned about the impact of oil starvation in other parts of the engine & not just the turbo.
All A3s have the recessed area on the handle, including those without keyless entry.
Assuming you have a start button instead of a traditional steering wheel ignition barrel, there are some possible causes:
Door sensor broken
Keyless entry disabled in VCDS
Key sync error / low battery
I just went with the ‘cigarette lighter’ 12v to twin USB adapters. The Belkin ones stopped providing power during start/stop as core voltage dropped but the RAVpower ones were fine. Just get a decent brand as the cheapo ones often don’t have noise suppression circuitry and can kill DAB reception.
Feel for you - especially with a new car - part annoyance, part grief for the impending pain to fix it.
Headlight and ‘drivetrain’ (whatever they mean by that) are going to be expensive, and that’s before bodywork.
Dash cams are almost a necessity these days, but not perfect.
