    Facelift Quattro Snow?

As others have said, don't let AWD lull you into a false sense of security. It will mean you are far less likely to get stuck, but doesn't help much when it comes to braking or cornering. There's a Q7 lives on out street that nearly found that one out the hard way... When we had really bad snow...

New steering wheel not 100% straight.. help?

A little while back I got my car 4-wheel aligned by a garage and they 'straightened' the steering wheel for me. It was horrendously out and despite trying three times they couldn't get it aligned properly. I went to my local dealer in the end, and they resolved it for me at a discount. At the...

    Private Reg on a '16' Plate - Yes/No ??

When I was in college one of my best friends was a fairly staunch socialist, even selling copies of Socialist Worker magazine. After we finished our A-Levels he went on a European tour with some other fiends in his battered Land Rover. He tells a story of being in Eastern Europe, before the...

    New s3

You would have to be crazy not to, in my opinion. Insurers will look for any possible reason not to payout, and if they decide your insurance is void through non-disclosure then being uninsured is a crime! I declare even factory options when getting a quote; it's the only way to be sure and...

    S3 - Understeering in wet

I had a TTS previously and they have mag ride as standard. I did exactly that, driving roads and roundabouts I know well with the mag ride in 'normal' and 'sport' modes as a comparison. The car would definitely carry more cornering speed in 'sport' mode.

Crank Up Your Speakers More Rs3 Testing

Having watched the vid a couple of times it looks like the driver hit every single apex with no understeer whatsoever. Very impressive.

    S3 - Understeering in wet

Pretty much all us RS3 drivers have ditched the standard Conti's for Eagle F1s or Michelin Pilot Sports. It transforms the RS3. Interestingly, all the early BMW 1M reviews had the cars on Pilot Sports as I understand it, and were universally positive. More recent cars for review seem to come...

    S3 vs WRX STi

I had an 8L S3 after my Imprezza Turbo. With the Imprezza, it was amazing 20% of the time and a bit of a tin box the rest of the time. The S3 was probably the other way around - lovely in most cases but lacking the final, ultimate driving enjoyment if the Imprezza. I spent a lot of money...

    Apple CarPlay

I guess it depends on what apps work with CarPlay or the Android equivalent. If I could connect my iPhone to my head unit and have it display and control my TomTom app then I would be over the moon. The TomTom app is better than every head-unit satnav I have seen to date.

    S3 vs WRX STi

I had an Impreza Turbo before I bought my first Audi back around 2000. It was a great car dynamically, but my S3 was a light year ahead in terms of build quality and being a nice place to be. A friend at work has a recent WRX and struggles to get 24mpg out of it on a decent run. I get 32 from...

    S3 vs WRX STi

Third on the list would be the Golf R: Interesting that early reviews seemed to rate the R universally better, but as time goes on the S3 seems to be getting better reviews all over the place.

    S3 vs WRX STi

I have to say, if I was in the market for a car right now the S3 saloon would be front of the list, with the sportback running to second place! Whilst I love my 8P RS3 it is a little too hard for every day and I would expect an 8V S3 to be similar in terms of point-to-point capability on the road.

    Haldex Quattro system

I don't personally know whether the haldex is quicker than a torsen, however the electronic system means that it can predict slip based on the car controls. It monitors speed, acceleration and angle of steering to anticipate the possibility of understeer and act before any occurs.
