You have to buy a new lid on the B6. Just done this for mine £40 from you local Audi dealer part number V8E0 864 245 A1 7C (N/STK cover) . You can buy a repair kit but it does not work on the B6 type IIRC its for the A3.
Edited to add: End of part number varies with inertia trim colour.
Audi did a TSB bulletin for this problem.
Quote This condition may occur while driving (especially on rough road) or in cold weather when opening/closing the doors.
This condition may be corrected by increasing radio volume.
This link explains it better...
It just pulls out.
Remove the radio from above and push the control unit from the rear it will just push out.
If you have a single din radio (concert II) then you can get your fingers underneath the control unit and pull out it out without removing the radio.
The only way to be certain is a VAG com scan to show up any faults.
But a faulty brake pedal switch can cause a loss in power.
The switch is linked to the engine management & can put the car in limp home mode or just confuse the ESP system as to your intentions (accelerating whilst it...
Your quite right I have had 3 fail on my car.
Not wanting to sound like a salesman but thats why I love Vag com two I replaced for £50 and one fixed when I finally found the spring lodged in my dashboard when my clutch peddle switch exploded.
I dread to think of the price if a main...
Yes a faulty brake peddle switch can cause the ESP light and usually the glow plug light to light up.
This will put it in limp home mode and cause your engine to run horrible.
The reason for this is the steering wheel position & peddles etc. are all connected to the ESP system. A fault...
Unfortunately you can not switch the ESP totally off it is always on, just in varying degrees on your A4.
The ESP button will allow you to wheel spin (for use with snow chains) but never totally disengage the safety features(Although they will be toned down a bit).
If its a yaw sensor for...
The ESP light being permanently on usually means a sensor has gone down or implausible value. If there is a fault with ESP this can effect how the engine runs as it ******* engine revs during wheel spin.
A common fault is the lateral acceleration sensor giving an implausible signal which...
Yes it can be a fault with a micro switch in this module or a wiring fault to this module as per my original post.
The module is one unit & has micro switches built in that control the interior light, windows & central locking etc.
If something is broken inside it can affect more than...
The Aerial cable is known to break on the cab, the lead normally breaks inside the rubber tubing which goes from the boot lid to inside the boot.
Sometimes the broken cable makes contact hence the intermittent nature of the fault.
The list was in no particular order so I would check for the broken wire and water fist (no cost outlay).
The door lock fault usually causes the windows to go up or down randomly and the interior light to behave strangely whilst driving. Not sure its your problem but I know of a few cars...
I know of a couple of problems that are common on the A4 B6
* There is a micro switch in the driver's door lock module, its the switch that locks the dead bolts and turns the alarm on when you use the key lock cylinder in the driver's door. This switch is prone to failure and the car thinks...
No the bose is an optional extra with the concert radio.
If you have bose you have a different amp in the boot that powers both the front and rear speakers.
If you dont have bose you still have an amp in the boot but this just powers the rear and sub and the concert radio powers the...
The shark fin is for satnav etc. so will not help with AM reception
Is it just poor AM reception or FM as well?
The AM aerial is located on the glass on the Rear left window
The amp that powers it is located in rear left of luggage compartment under side trim.
A couple of...
One possibility:
There is a micro switch in the drivers door lock module, its the switch that locks the dead bolts and turns the alarm on when you use the key lock cylinder in the drivers door.
This switch is prone to failure and the car thinks you are trying to lock the car from the...
Manually it can be only reset to 10000 miles intervals.
Turn car off
-Hold "Wrench" Button on Console
-Turn on car (don't need to start)
-Press Trip Odometer Reset (0,0) while still holding Wrench
For long life you need full vag com (not shareware ) to reset the indicator as shareware...
