As per the title, I am looking for some advice..
It isn’t the fuse as all other windows are working.
It could be the motor…
It could be the switch (again all other windows are working)…
Before it stopped working I heard internal clicking when the window was closed like the motor was still...
Ok so not quite 10 mins but an hour later and my eBay bought code (which works) is returned by the above site. Well worth a bookmark. Nice one @jaimehughes
I had a very similar issue on my old Golf 1.9TDi and it drove me insane trying to fault find...
IIRC relay 107 (or 109) whichever one which is responsible for the glow plugs will most likely be tired. If you open it up it will likely be dull copper and not shiny like new. My fix was a £1...

That being said you have listed a number of reasons for/against. Either way you could ‘creatively’ explain why/why not…
Not to insult the wife’s intelligence but would she even know if you were to remove it and tell her there was a new EGR fitted?
There’s a slight ethical issue there but if you are paying for it and for your own piece of mind I know what I would do.
As for the emissions update/recall, I ignored...
Will depend on what grit you go, you only need to take the glossy layer off and give it a key to get the primer to adhere to.

Enjoy!
Gave mine a good old winter wash today and interior valet.
Also one of my headlamps had popped during the week so I ‘upgraded’ to some Ring Xenonmax bulbs that I had lying around which ‘seem’ brighter, at least two is better than one
I went for a Brembo disc and pad set for front and rear from cartech-one
Just check your model against mine ~ £120
