    Most likely the control module attached to the regulator. Easy to change and pretty cheap. Just make sure you get the exact same P/N including the letter at the end. Quite common on VAG group cars. Have you had it scanned ?

Took the plunge and opened both, contacts on the plate for the switch on the old one worn. Took the plate from the new one, rebuilt, tested ok. Fitted it and scanned...
