RedDejavu Audi S3 Ibis white BE build thread

Nice one, be interested to see what you think of it.

Time for a build thread....big turbo

I can imagine he's enthusiastic. My wife demanded that I get her a cat and I've watched the gradual deterioration of my leather sofa, speaker grilles, carpets and soft furnishings (curtains rtc.), so a 'proper' pet like yours could have a field day if left unchecked! My parents Alsatian had a...

I've known of them since 2001 and lots of happy customers (myself included) when I was working in the area. Top bloke, good knowledge.

Time for a build thread....big turbo

Wow, I'd forgotten what Ford switch gear was like. Same gear knob as we had in the old mans XR4x4. You're right, it does look a bit rough, especially when you get used today's standards!

Time for a build thread....big turbo

Do you think after a few years in a heavily modified Audi if you returned to one of the Cossies that it would still thrill you, or do you think progress would make the older car feel a bit rough round the edges. I crave a Mk1 or Mk2 Golf GTi and I've regularly been warned by a raft of people to...

Time for a build thread....big turbo

Intriguing that there can be such a mx of views from within the industry. I know Revo (dealers) have done a fair bit of work on the various engines), so must have a view, but even if there was no extra power gains you have to assume it would be far more robust and should run freer. I'm...

    225/40r18 vs 225/35r19 ride quality

I did end up switching to 235/35/19s after the first tyre change and it made a marginal improvement. You tend to get premature inner shoulder wear on the tyres when you run 19's in spite of correct geometry. I still think for ultimate handling 18's are the way to go.

    225/40r18 vs 225/35r19 ride quality

I found it a touch less compliant on the ride, and slightly more susceptible to tram lining but it's very marginal. If your tracking and geometry is 100% you shouldn't suffer to much. Remember your increasing weight of the wheels so it will be a touch more crashy before you loose tyrewall...

Car is not starting but is not the starter motor ?????

If the battery has been replaced the first thing I would check is that the earthing cable is still sound as without a good earth you won't get good current through the battery to kick the starter. Given all your erratic running issues I'd be tempted to get the injector loom checked as there...

REVO Stage 1 two weeks later :)

Don't think it's changed much since 2010, but there was a marginal revision around that date (from memory).

    Anyone on stage 3 bluefin?

The dyno and real world don't tend to deliver the same results. Revo spend hours driving their cars on the road as they found they were able to deliver far more useable results. If you can get a passenger ride in any cars well worth doing to get a sense of how they run. Hard to do, but I think...

REVO Stage 1 two weeks later :)

I went with the 1:1 as I killed two clutches on my 1st S3 and I found in the warmer months it delivered a more consistent experience and gave more shove for overtaking on A/B roads when you may already be at half throttle. Smooth & sweet!

REVO Stage 1 two weeks later :)

There will be updates over the life cycle of the product, but only very slight tweaks as part of ongoing R&D. The biggest choice to make is whether you want the standard map or the linear 1:1 throttle map which gives a less boosts feel but gives you more throttle adjustment across the pedal swipe.

    Anyone on stage 3 bluefin?

Given the development time differentials the headline BHP figures may be similar but I bet the overall experience is quite different. People read too much into headline BHP figures, it's only a small part of the overall story. I'd be going elsewhere.

No, mine was 61plate panther black in Berkshire. Glad you're enjoying the car though!

REVO Stage 1 two weeks later :)

What colour /age is your car (curious as I traded mine 6 weeks ago!). Glad to hear it's hitting the sweet spot, amazing what a difference it makes.

HELP! Audi S3 S Tronic gearbox advice...

One thing I will mention is we had someone of the forum recently who had S-Tronic issues and had just bought the car. It turns out the gearbox oil hadn't been done at Audi's recommended mileage and Audi were quite resistive about helping out. I don't know if the guy got any good will on the end...

Major Engine Damage on Audi A3 - How can this happen?

Trying to diagnose unseen is almost impossible, but feel your pain. My brother in law bought a 170 diesel A3 2008 a few years back and it was nothing but trouble. Injectors, loom, DPF all caused ongoing issues and in the end they traded it in for a Mini Cooper S. I begged him to book a full...
