    Yeah usually there's a constant supply & probably a trigger wire, without me logging into Elsa I didn't say right now, but should see 12v somewhere on the connector, I can't recall if it's a magnetic, suction or mechanical latch down type, but any of them will require a feed to latch anyway...

    Vcds may show faults for the lock, scan see what comes up, ideally buy a £10 meter from Screwfix.

    Check the connector with a meter & apply 12v to the motor to test it works, if it was water damaged check the connector pins for corrosion & clean if need be.

    Then if it sees presses then it's not the steering wheel, coding shouldn't be the issue unless you've not told the module it's got an mfsw, check that also.

    Just do a button test with vcds in 16 measuring blocks, if it's not showing then I'd say either the buttons are faulty or disconnected on the rear of the unit, the 2 buttons units share a cable across to eachother & one has a loom connected to the slip ring, possibly that cable has become...
